The diplomacy window popped up when a minor race offered me a gift. At least that's what it looked like - there was nothing listed on my side of the trade and they had a tech listed on their side of the trade. I clicked on Accept and the game crashed.
Ticket #EPP-692-23473 opened.
I reloaded the autosave and when the diplomacy window came up again it crashed again. So I have a saved game that should be able to reproduce the problem if you need it.
This happened again in a different game. I tried to modify the terms of the trade to circumvent the problem, but got another crash.
Here's the saved game that reproduces the problem. You have to deal with a couple of planet/ship items before the offer comes up, but it does keep coming up.
I hope this gets fixed soon, since we don't have any control over when the trade offers happen, and so far there's no way to circumvent it, it's a game ender.
Confirmed. Happens to me the first two times I was offered something for free.
It happened to me as well, but it's not a game ender for me. I simply backed out of the trade, and was able to continue playing (after reloading).
If you are offered a trade and it appears that your side is not giving anything you can prevent the crash by hitting the back button.
