12 customer races Excessive map.

I I started a game on the next size up in maps. As I suspected you REALLY want to have at least 12+ Majors and all Minors on an 'Excessive Map. The maps are just too big.

I am playing Occasional habitability on both extreme and normal Planets, abundant anomalies and uncommon on all others, Loose clusters. Man is this a big map! I LOOOVE IT.

I created 4 extra majors and I don't think its enough. I will likely create 10 more just for the Insane map Size.

I have a very beefy computer system now and have had Zero issue except i do get longer wait periods between turn clicks. Meaning when I hit next turn and the system is thinking i will pause for up to 10 seconds. This is not an issue for me personally. Play wise no stuttering not hangs and good crisp graphix!

Scouts scale with map size in movement. On this map Scouts initially have 3 hex moves. I am going to upgrade soon. I can still purchase the Yor (who DWCd me when I met him.) flagship which I did and promptly flew back to my territory.

So far so good. I am playing as Terrans which I always do and will try other races later.

I fired up the game last night when I got home at 545pm pacific and two things occurred, 1) I forgot to eat dinner, 2) somebody screwed with my clocks because when I looked up it was flippin' midnight! I also saw Darca online but  he was playing something else..... =P

How much GB of ram do you have?

I'm playing on large and I think the game has some memory leaks still.

I have had zero issues. I did few things that really help. I (did) have only 8 gigs of ram. I recently upgraded my computer to 16gigs ram, a 500 gig SSD, and a GTX 970 (4gigs on it). My processor is Overclocked I3570K @ 4.2 gigs.

I also set my min and max virtual memory to 16 gigs even though I have what would seem enough. This pass around I can tell that Paul and his team did a good job catching memory leaks. I am almost 100 turns in and it runs smooth.

I can barely run Excessive Maps but trying an insane not only crashes because of too low memory, but also leaves about 25% of the rigthmost of my screen black thus requiring a reboot. I have 8GB o RAM on an older i5 and all the graphics settings nerfed down. Without nerfing them I cant even run the Excessive Maps :-(

I ran Insane size map on my 8 gig system on old processor and had no crashes.  Some lag, but nothing horrible.  I didn't go too many turns on that map.  I have another 8 gig ram on order and am eagerly waiting.  Had a crash on Immense and am trying to submit a ticket.  Meanwhile, I am playing with the shipyard, again.

Again I suggest to set (min and max) your Virtual memory to 16 gigs (if you have only 8 gigs of Ram). Try this and see if it helps with the crashing.

I hear that the game will support 100 races. Is it? Because this number of them will be enough to fill the insane (I hope). Though it'll have to be pain to create them. I'm alredy searching through all the space stuff I ever played or watched as movie to build up a list of opponents to create. Does anyone know will there ever be limit or it is "take as much as you can carry"?

Obviously your thing isnt a poor computer. Try increasing the virtual memory pool as you have been suggested to do.

It can and will support 100 races. You are correct, its a pain to create each one. I asked Tetrasodium if he had a solution for creating lots of factions. On today's stream post, I asked for a randomizer to create random but different Factions.

Randomizer will also need a lots of stuff like portraits, bacjground, flags and the like to choose from when creating random factions. It will need the ability to randomize colors (when they'll come around to fix that oversight and put a painting tool back in the game). Otherwise we'll be having a one hundred nearly identical twin looking races.
