The influence spread is very chunky. You get a little bit here, a hex there, and then boom you get half their territory.....
The ship/fleet window that comes up in the lower left of the screen still doesn't show the ship fleet size values below the little grey icons except when you too many ships in a fleet.
The AI is still crap at using colonies. I mean they are really pathetic. Research facility in a rich farming area, factory on one of those research bonus tiles, no co-ordination, no forethought and they never do the terraforming type research tree
At the end, races that had been influence absorbed turned pirate - and all their ships moved around in these enormous fleets with like 30 ships and combat factors like 356/128 beam + various kinetic/missile etc and this is a medium map with all races so territories weren't large and several never even got to Cruiser size ships.
The power calculation is still stupid. Puts too much weight on crap like military stations and not enough on production rates. As the Germans found out in WW2 48k shermans is very hard to stop with 42k tanks of your own - let alone all the T34's and brit tanks.
The new Diplo/UP stuff is better than the old.
