Singer-player runs great; Multi-player is a mess

With a high end PC

My friend and I are completely burned out of playing GalCiv 3. I love the game and he, being new to the series, is really becoming quite enamoured with it. We have tried to play so many new games but each one ends up the same way; turns get locked out and stuck on grey for one of us meaning we both have to restart the game, load up an old save and start the cycle again.

We tried to play yesterday hoping that we could get atleast a few dozen turns in before it happened again. One turn in and the game locked us out of the turn button. We could both still manipulate the game, but when it said it was our turn the turn button was greyed out saying "wait". We gave up and said we wouldn't come back to it for a long while.

There doesn't seem to be a pattern to why this is happening. There are no crashdumps I think I can submit. I'm just a little miffed that a game in Beta 4 is still this unstable.

Hmm, you guys can load up a multi save?

Interesting, my buddy and I can't play a multiplayer game past a single session, always times out after a few hours, and fails to load without fail.

Sad, because multiplayer is the primary reason I bought this.

Even without a crashdump, sending a ticket and using the Stardock Support Tool talked about here (https://forums.galciv3.com/452855/page/1/) will possibly help a great deal.  What I would do, when the game stops letting you or your friend finish a turn, is run that support tool with the game still running in the background.  Saving the game just before that tool is run will also, I believe, make it so the Support Tool will add the save into the log files that it generates.

To be fair, it is still in beta, so we can't complain too much that MP is not working, just highlight the fact and hope its ready soon.  If its not ready on release we can complain big time as it was a feature clearly promised in GC3.

Having said that, I too am interested in playing GC3 MP, perhaps just on tiny/small maps.

I play a lot of Dom3 and now Dom4 MP, in fact probably a 100+ MP games, great fun.  Those are PlayByEmail which works very well.  I assume GC3 will be real time MP?  Its interesting with GC3, tiny and small maps could be played MP in a single big gaming session as its a pretty fast game.  But larger galaxy types, particularly mid/late game would probably suit PBEM on a 24hr turnaround server like Dominions 4.
