Research per turn limit/bug?

Hi,

I have 8067 research points per turn in one game but it is completely useless. I thought that I could research like 3 basic technologies in one turn but nope.

So I want to ask if it is intended limit or bug that you can research maximally one technology per turn? It is pretty annoying to research lasers from start turn by turn with such research production.

Working as intended.  The devs don't want people to be able to build/research more than one thing per turn for game balance reasons.

What isn't working as intended is overflow. If one has overflow, one is supposed to be able to "use up" all of the excess research/production so it gets to 1 point below the threshold the next tech/building/ship/whatever.

I remember being able to research 2 or three techs a turn on GC2, so I also expect to be able to do so on GC3, eventually. At the moment, the overflow processing for research, planet build queues, shipyard build queues, and such are not implemented (at least I hope they will be before release).

Yes, I was going to mention that.  I know for a fact one could research several things per turn in GC II.  From what I recall. it was the only place where the 1 thing per turn didn't apply.  I know in at least one devstream they mentioned they didn't want players to be able to research more than one thing a turn in GC III, however.  Maybe they'll change their minds on that score if they get enough feedback.

I seriously doubt they're gonna change their minds on production, however, no matter how many people complain/comment on it. :p

There are the tools implemented to deal with overflow of production/research.  There not perfect but viable none the less.

If I have an overflow of production to shipyard I'll change the sponsors so they can focus on planetary production.  Even if there is nothing to build it can boost culture, birth, money etc.

Or more simply split the shipyards which seems slightly more beneficial considering the flexibility to have large production numbers to multiple sources more easily.  Instead of HOPING for 3-4 awesome production bonus galore planets.

I am not sure but it would be interesting to know if wonder bonuses apply (such as less logistic cost) to any shipyard that the planet with the corresponding world sponsors.  If so that would also be of great benefit considering you could more aptly apply the bonuses by reassigning worlds and also not worry about where you build the wonder.

As far as research, It can be a bit tedious, but In your situation I'd just alter your economy bar further towards money / production to not waste the research points.
