The interface needs help...

I'm concerned about the quality of the interface at this point. It seems like things tend not to fit together. A good example would be the text box in multiplayer. I can't scroll, words are cut off on the side and the bottom, and usernames sometimes don't fit. There's no effective scaling and no option to close that window.

I'm also noticing that there are not ship hotkeys. No G for Guard, S for Sentry, or anything like that. Are these on the docket or should we expect to have to click through every fleet?

I think the developers have said that hotkeys will be added in a later beta.

You are correct, Paul has made the comment a few times.

It's not very clear as to what about planning the build order is annoying, so I may be missing the point.

Nevertheless here is my take on "colony build order".    With adjacency bonuses and "coordination" buildings, such as research coordination and solar power plants, and super projects, the build order and location combined gives a extra importance and extra choices to colony management, which imo, is a very good thing.   Planning colonies (in combination with each other) is now a detailed and critical task.   That it is more difficult to do it right than, say, in GC2, is also a good thing.  I suppose one could ask for a choice to let the colony build itself (auto build), but to my mind that is just subtracting some of the strategy from a strategy game.    However, you are free to dislike whatever you want, but I think the new system --- with perhaps a bit of polishing --- is a big plus for GC3.

In terms of managing this build order, the drag and drop ability to relocate items in the building queue is also a big plus.   There is a small issue when the build queue is long in that it may take a 2 or 3 drags to get an item to the top of the queue, but that is a small thing and may be improved as part of polishing.

Just my 2c.

I concur, it is a good thing with the bonuses, and it was not very clear what exactly I meant. I was referring to the interface specifically.
When I accidently build something in the wrong order and want to switch it around, I have to spend a good 40 MINUTES (hyperbole) rearranging the damn build order.

Can I have the old "arrows" back so I can just click my way upwards or downwards? Or how about an extending interface when I am moving an object? So when I move it, I get the ENTIRE build order to make my selection on where to place this building in the sequence. And mark where I am putting it, it is random now.
While we're at marking, which ship was it that I had selected again?
