Low Memory Crash 100% of the time

Yesterday I was on turn 200.  Today I can't load the game, nor can I start a new one, even on a tiny map with only two AIs.  I get a low memory error each time.  I was able to start a game once but it too crashed a few turns in.  It was working fine yesterday.  Only crashed every 50 turns or so.  Rig is low-powered Microsoft Surface Pro 1 4gb RAM i5.

Hey gladiator24_7,

By any chance, have you tried tweaking your in-game settings to see if that has any effect on that issue?

Please take a look at the sections that cover virtual memory and settings at the link below and if they do not help, I'd like to gather some information about your system, please see the last section for help with placing a ticket:

Thank you!

4gb RAM
End of quote

This is the problem you are running into. You have three choices:

Increase your RAM -- to at least 8GB. If you want to play the largest map, you may need 10GB. Then adjust the system's "virtual memory" settings to match.

Make sure your system's "virtual memory" setting is "minuimum" = 4GB, "maximum" = 12GB. This may be enough for the smaller maps, or you may have to add RAM anyway.

Wait for Beta 5. Again, for the larger maps, you will most definitely need more RAM.
