Winning the colonization rush every time?

Some how the AI is totally down to sell you all their loaded colony ships for about 89 BC a pop, which means not only do you not have to build as many of your own, but you also get to preserve the population of your home world.

You seriously just research universal translators, then send out your scout and then check in with the other races every turn or so and buy their colony ships as soon as they're made.

Is this a known issue, am I missing something?

It is known.  The AI currently doesn't value things very well.  It does OK with tech, but other than that, they'll sell you their empire for a cookie.

This is a little ridiculous, I just purchased the entire Alterian navy for 8 techs, and now one turn later I've upgraded all their ships into something five times as powerful right before I declare war on them.

Okay, I just purchased about 50 ships, literally ever other factions navy for some not very useful techs and now I have multiple times the power rating of everyone else combined.

I haven't even upgraded them all for free yet :/

A little ridiculous?  Once I convinced a civ to hand over everything minus planets - all their techs, ships, including colony ships, credits - for a tiny planet that would be of no use to them, and flip back to me in 10 turns.  It's completely ridiculous!

The game's not finished.  I would advise against using exploits because they're no fun.  If this were a complete game, it would be a big problem.  But as we still haven't received the updates to the AI that will teach them how to properly calculate trade values, I think we should simply ignore the fact that it's too easy to get their stuff and just not trade with them.  You have to play the Beta knowing that parts of the game are not fully implemented. That doesn't mean don't discuss the issues, though!  If you find something nobody else has you can make a valuable contribution!

To the contrary, I would advise fully exploiting every little thing you can find.  And reporting it here.

The devs will be closing those holes in the code as they go along.  You can have fun doing ridiculous things while they are possible.  We will all get a better game.

Everybody wins!

Thanks for the responses, I'm a little sad to see that I won't be able to bargain technology with neutral powers for much of my economy, military and technology  like I did in GC II but I can hold off until its fixed or if I want to report issues.

Is there a roadmap thread or something of known issues?

I don't want to report things for the thousandth time.
