Amen!!  As was pointed out in another post, no one runs to a car dealer who is offering deep discounts on used cars in May and demands a refund for a car bought at a higher price in April.  Said dealer will laugh you off the lot.  Why should video games be any different?

Since your reply poster 1 bought the founders pack, he/she thought it was worth it to start playing asap even through a crappy alpha and to have an electronic star system named after him or her (don't know your sex).  I could care less about a star being named after me so I just bought it standard at 49.99 off steam.   

MAN, i can't believe how emotional this issue is .  I will admit i got the game thinking i was getting a good deal, Knew it would be on sale at some point and must admit i was just a tad pissed when it did so early.  Felt a little ripped off but over it quickly.  SD has always said the project was already fully funded, thus not relying on pre-release sales and surely they have  more than enough "testers" between founders and early access folks and it certainly does not take a genius to predict this kind of "revolt" feedback.  So why did they do it??  And was it SD or Stream ??  My guess is that this was a Stream call not SD but who knows.

I think it is normal for people to feel a bit irked over this, i know i did.  But to see some of the hostile reactions is a bit over the top (at least to me).

I mean come on guys;  was the only reason you purchased it the first place for the $5 off,  knowing it was a bug ridden incomplete game? Or was it (like me), you wanted to get in early on a game that's likely to be great and provide feedback that may make it even greater?

Never buy another SD product again over this... your loss

Never do early access again over ~$20/ ... your choice, and many would probably be thankful not to hear the complaining.

Do i wish i got the game at 50%  vs. the $5  off? Sure i do.  But i have had fun with it and enjoy feeling like part of the team (albeit a really small part ) to make it better.

I am a founder and I have no problem with this at all. Galciv3 is shaping up to be a great game and I am happy more people will enjoy it. Look at it this way: The more sucessfull Galciv3 is the more chance there is for expansions and value for your founder edition (if you absolutly need an economic justification - I dont.)

Early access used to be paid testers.......

I don`t understand why founders are getting upset at the game going on sale like this.We still have all additional  packs and DLC coming to us free. And had our hand in the way the game is being developed.Plus you should have know it would go on sale at a later date.And if being on sale allow some one to buy it that could not pay full price ,.. then every one wins.....Who know maybe they`ll become a great modder!  BTW I`m all for additional perks.

Actually, what we're in the process of doing is creating a way for users to hook up their Steam accounts and their Stardock accounts.  In doing so, we can make sure  those who became founders get additional perks.

The $100 founders, I see your point and agree with it.  The folks who paid $45, they have a point (if you consider it valid or not is another topic, that's debatable)- they aren't getting the packs and DLC for free.

Also I don't think anyone is complaining about post-release sales, just EA sales.  There were similar complaints about Planetary Annhilation.

I wouldn't call it a screw.   If you've played the game at all early, you can see it's quality.   Screw would be getting a sub-par game.

The perk of latching on early was getting to play the game early.  You did get all those months before the folks getting the sale got the game.   (and this wasn't the first half-off sale, there was one over Christmas)

If you feel that's an issue, just wait for a sale in the future.   In my case, there are games I decide to buy instantly, and then there are games I wait until 75% off or a bundle.  GalCiv III was in the instant buy category, even if I've played it less than expected so far.

You have to take responsibility for your own buying decisions.  A Stardock employee did not come to your home and put a gun to your head and forced you to buy this game.  You put down $45 or $50 or $100 of your hard earned money because you felt it was worth it at the time.  You could have waited like 4-5 years for this game to be $5 as part of a holiday special, but you thought paying the extra money was worth it at the time.  No one is ready to launch a revolution when bread and milk go up, when gas goes up, etc.  For that matter, no one cries to the gas station attendant when they gassed up one day and saw that gas went down 10 cents a gallon 3 days later.  In the world of computers and video games, victory comes to those who wait, but the problem is we have an entertainment itch to scratch now and not 4 months, 1 year from now.

This is of high import to me. I'm a disabled vet, living on a fixed income and would never be able to justify the higher prices with my wife (and rightly so) even though she knows how much I've depended on GalCiv 2 to keep me from dwelling on my difficulties.

So, even though those who bought in early have justification for the way they feel, at least be pleased for those of us who couldn't participate otherwise.
