Beta Opt-in 0.72 hotfix: Abuse of Diplomacy AI

We will have peace or else.

Step 1: I am 3rd in power rank as Altarian, 2nd in power rank Yor declare war on me.

Step 2: Offer all other races Non-aggression pacts in exchange for every single one of their ships

Result1: I am now way ahead in power of any other race and own most of the ships in the galaxy.

Flaw: Diplo AI seems to overrate planets (they seem completely unwilling to give them up for anything, even if they are losing badly) and either underrate their ships or overrate nonagression pacts with slightly more powerful players ( I think I was 68,000 to around 59,000 for one of the races).

Step3: Now that I am ahead in power, I have every other race give me all of their ships, money, and starbases for non-aggression pacts.

Step4: I was going for a peaceful victory anyway, but now the Yor will give me all of their ships, money, and starbases in exchange for peace, since I am so far ahead in power (up to 177,000 in one turn wheras other races are down below 10,000).  Or I could crush them with every other race in the galaxy's fleet and take their planets.

Seems like all you would need to do in any game is pass a couple of races in power and go for an peaceful victory by way of non-aggression pacting (verbing, yay!) everyone into the dust.  For influence victory I could buy up every influence-able race's stuff, then crush any influence immune races (Malevolent, etc).

Note: A UP resolution prevented technology trading in the current game so I wasn't able to see how much I could get there, and possibly that had an impact on the AI decisions?

Beta.  The AI is not complete, not balanced, they don't value things properly and willingly make really bad trades.  This is well known, so I doubt it will be hotfixed - more likely we'll see improvements as the game nears completion.

In the meantime, there's more fun to be had by not exploiting the unfinished portions of the game.  Yes, diplomacy AI can trivialize the game, but you don't have to (and really shouldn't, but its a game do whatever you want.  it can be fun to exploitative sometimes) take advantage of that.  If this were the finished product it would be a pressing concern, but since we're still waiting on one or two major feature Betas, I'll just play like the AI isn't a total sucker.

Oh, I wasn't asking for a hotfix, this was just in the hotfix.  First time playing it, and diplomacy is always the first thing I try to break in these games.  Not sure Endless space ever got it working, and it would be nice to be able to"play hard" and not have to ignore holes like this one.  If the AI is so unfinished that there is no point in pointing out specific flaws I won't bother, but I just reupped the NA pact with second most powerful race and took all of their stuff, plus 750BC per turn which there is no way they can afford.

Anyway, I hope the AI is fixed up soon, but I guess there isn't much point balancing it for an incomplete game.

I agree About the Ai massively overvaluing planets.. On smaller galaxies no big deal, on immense+ however... Meeting someone far far away is as close as it can go for a long time.  The Ai should be willing to trade aww a low class planet for range extension -and- ne interested in initiating an offer for one across the galaxy simply for the benefits that can be achieved with the range extension that goes with having a port across the galaxy & depending on the planet density it might not even be something noticeable
Table napkin scribble quality thoughts make me think some of the factors ai should consider for this type of thing are:
• is the galaxy populated with a certain estimated number of planets based on galaxy size and analysis of planets cleared from my fow?
• is the planet a crappy class 4 or something?
• how far from my influence borders is this planet & if possible  which quadrant of the galaxy is it in(players should get this info on the planet hovertext on trade window too!)

Non-aggression pacts buy lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of things.  Things such as resources, ships, stardocks.  Non-aggression pacts are powerful powerful powerful trading chits.
