Adjacency level bonus

In the picture there are two Research Centers under my Civilisation Capital on Earth. Each of the Research Centers is Level 3. How can this be? Each Research Center receives a level bonus from the adjacent Civ Capital and the other, adjacent Research Center. That is 2 levels bonus. So the Research Center should be Level 2, but here it is Level 3. Where comes the 3rd Level 1 bonus from? Or is this a bug?

Did you have the random event that increases all adjacency bonuses?

Did you do the research that increases the Research adjacency bonus?

There are several other ways to increase the adjacency bonuses throughout the game.

Thanky you for responding.

Which one is the research that increases the Research adjacency bonus?

I don't know the name of it.... and honestly may be confusing it with something else, but I think it is in the planet improvement path of the research tree...  near teraforming...

it is one of the focus improvements where you can improve research/manufacturing/economic

Environmental Research.  One of three "environmental" options in the "planetary improvement" line that will increase adjacency bonuses. As mentioned above, events can also increase adjacency.  Like the motivational speaker who tells everyone to get along.

It works like this: If the building gets an adjacency bonus from one or more neighboring tiles, that bonus is increased by the amount of your total additional bonuses from tech/events.  For example, if you've got Environmental research and nothing else, you'll end up with what you've got - +3 instead of +2.  These do not stack with more neighbors, so whether you've got 1 neighbor or 6, you'll get the same amount bonus added on.  So +2 becomes +3, +6 becomes +7, etc.

If you're playing Yor, they get more techs that increase the bonus.  Since their production buildings do less than other race's, this is particularly important for them.

When I read that description, it says "terrain" adjacency bonus get buffed, not building adjacency bonuses.   I interpret that as meaning the random special tiles that occur on planets now provide better adjacency bonus but not extra main bonus.  Do I have that wrong?  It made sense to me being about terrain bonus because it was in an environment branch of the tech tree.

End of Turkwise's quote

This is actually not how the tech works. The description is confusing. It simply adds +1 level to all your research buldings, it has nothing to do with adjacency.

EDIT: After rereading Turkwise's post he does accurately describe how the tech works, I just found it confusing. Note that it adds a level even if you have no adjacency bonuses.

Wow.  That makes no sense to me based on what I read.  Thanks for the update.
