Need Asteroid Mining back!

Enjoying what there is for Gal Civ 3 atm, but man do I miss asteroids!  Getting closer everyday to full release and I find myself missing certain things.

I don't know about the rest of you but it would be nice to have a bit more meat released on Beta 5.  I'm sure having the extra races released would be nice but I'd rather see the game get more depth with it's current game style.   It feels like Starbases are still not useful.

I'm happy with how things are going but  I want MOAR!!  =)

Great work guys.  Any updates would be appreciated on the schedule and if it's going

I think as the resources in the Asteroid fields become more significant, the "feel" of mining asteroid belts will return, and it will be a more interesting system.  But that is my take only.

As far as starbases not being useful.  Huh?  Use for island hopping, manufacturing, research, approval, influence improvements, and even for military placement in key battle situations (take a stack of constructors with you, use them to stepping stone to the hear of the enemy, then use the rest to build a serious military SB, and rain devastation on the enemy).   Sounds a bit useful to me.  Perhaps I misunderstood what you meant.

"Moar" - yeah, well, Right On!

"Great work" - yeah well, ditto.

Well as far as asteroids fields i wouldn't eant to see them gone. I would want to see a more realistic circle around a solar system where planets can be on either side or ehere there are teo in a solar system. As far as manuverability. Not an issuebyhey are a few million kilometers apart,  but this may depend on how old the solar system is.

Now as far as starbases are concerned some games like shattered suns and sins of a solar empire use starbases as there main mechanic other games. What i would like to see is an option to go either way where you can dominate by planets,  starbases,  or inbetween. Most importantly they need to look nice,  snd ai's need to be able to use them right.

Well, Any starbases I've put up are getting bypassed by the AI and largely ignored.  In fact anytime the AI wants to start invading my space they "sneak" around to areas where I don't have visibility (fog) and enter my space (much how they operated in Gal Civ 2)

Right now starbases have only been a use for getting relic bonuses.

I liked the old method of asteroids giving resources to a nearby planet or being assigned to a planet.  I miss having that choice.

It also allowed raiding and destroying them when attacking an enemy.

In fact I would like to see asteroids play a larger part in resource/empire development.  I prefer them to have  a larger tactical impact.  But maybe that's just me.

I think it's important to create objects in space that encourage conflict for control of said resources.

Asteroid mining will be in the game. It will be done with starbases and add production to a nearby planet much like GC2.

As for starbases being underpowered, you must not really be using economy starbases. They are awesome. That said. I never build military or influence starbases as I find the influence ones to be pretty ineffective and I am almost always the aggressor in war and find the stationary nature of military starbases too limiting.

I usually only use starbases for relics,  Not much else.  I've tried using the military ones, and as I said they get ignored.

Economic starbases are incredibly powerful.  Kind of rediculously powerful, since you can stack the effects of several starbases on one world.  I am actually hoping they "nerf" that a bit before release, so that maybe a planet can only receive bonuses from 1 starbase.  And now they are even better than they were in GC2 in one major way; you can have a fleet stationed with the starbase to defend it.

You should try them out sometime.  You are really kind of gimping yourself if you are not using them.
