LORE QUESTION: races preferred environments, & evolutionary distinctiveness

are there any references to the different races having certain environmental preferences /types on their    home worlds (I.e. Hot, cool, rainy, swampy, cave networks, etc)?

for some reason I feel like I've read drengin have  hot planet, but can't find the reference now.

failing any direct references, can anyone think of any tech briefings/lore blurbs/iological obviousnesses that would indicate certain things? I.e. The four eyed irridium might be used yo darker environments or the buglike  thalan might need certain types of natural caverns for nesting? The yor might be happy without an atmosphere, the krynn hmmm? More?

In GC2 several civilizations had super abilities that gave them the ability to colonize some extreme planets from the start.

Super Adapter (Iconian Refuge)

Can colonize Aquatic and Toxic worlds at the beginning of the game.

Super Annihilator (Korath Clan)

Can build a Spore ship, which turns defenseless colonies into toxic worlds owned by you. Can colonize Toxic worlds at the beginning of the game.

Super Isolationist (Yor Collective)

Can colonize barren worlds by default and foreign vessels cannot travel more than 3 parsec in Super Isolationist's sphere of influence.

The Torians are mentioned as being an aquatic race, but they did not start with the research to colonize aquatic worlds unlocked.

Currently there is no goal about having racial diversity as mentioned here

All we have are some extreme planets you may gain accessable in the future when your superpower allready reached a certain level of research.

Also it is not possible to just draw a galaxy map with only a few habitable planets and a huge amount of extreme planets. Those extremes seem to be a percentage of the habitable ones. So if you limit habitables you will also lower your chance to see extremes.

From my view it is a missing design pattern.

End of Rhonin_the_wizard's quote

They had the Aquatic World colonization tech "earlier" in the techtree

skukkuk, what's posted there does not conflict with the thinks I have in mind.
