[0.71.1] [Graphical glitch/polish] Some ship hull equip points visually symmetrically mirror attached components, others do not

I find it neat that those of us a bit OCD about symmetrical ship designs sometimes no longer have to obsess about placing ship components on the port/starboard centerline if we can only spare an odd number of that particular component and want to maintain symmetry with the ship design -- in other words, if we only have enough available mass for components for one engine, the attachment points on the ship sometimes automatically visually mirror that component if we place it on, say, a port connection point away from the centerline.  Its purely cosmetic, of course -- it doesn't actually double the component in terms of consumed mass capacity nor how much thrust the mirrored engine provides.  I think its a neat feature, but unfortunately its highly inconsistent -- its very hit or miss from hull design to hull design whether equipment installed at some attachment points mirrors or not.  In the grand scheme of bugs and issues, its a very minor one, a polish to fix up before release, but thought I'd mention it.

I don't believe what you are experiencing is a bug. If you attach an engine (or other part) to a part that has been mirrored, the engine also mirrors. If the part was not mirrored the engine will not mirror. The solution is also pretty easy. If you attach an engine that you want mirrored and it doesn't mirror, you can do it manually by using the symmetry controls in the top right corner of the edit box.

actually i ran across this last night as well i placed an engine on a survey ship and it was mirrored 2x once left and right and once front and back

ok so how do i cancel the mirror in my case the two engines that were placed on the front were completely facing the wrong way i also wanted to place several ~4-5 engines

however now the game is making me place 8-16 due to mirroring that i cant cancel my ship looks like a ball with engines facing all random direction's

These are the default designs with symmetric hulls.

Thank you for reporting, it is noted that we will need to revisit the ship designer.
