Influence Calculation Problem?
In the pic, you will see that I'm about to lose a planet to influence while I'm actually influencing another planet. Is there a problem with the influence calculation?

There must be. Beta 4 has been creating all sorts of weird shapes with influence. I've been finding the influence has been warping in the ways that it needs to start culture flipping my planets without controlling everything in between. Planets that were in the next system (or 2) over have been threatening my planets without the whole solar system being threatened.
I'm finding my current game unplayable. So sad. Another planet "behind the front line" fell to this issue. I have influence buildings galore on these planets.

We appreciate all the information and save files we have received in reference to influence. In the save files we have received, it currently seems that there is not a bug. Rest assured that the case is not closed. We realize on the design side, that we will need to more accurately display the information of "what is going on" to the player. Thanks! ![]()
That just makes me confused about design choices. I would argue that if your design produces borders like this :
and like this :

and like the OP's, then there is probably something questionable with the design itself, not just how the design is presented to the player. Did the designers really intend for borders to have spurs and strips and enclaves like that ?
Influence did not work this way in beta 3. It's a bug, not a poor design choice.
Whether it's a "bug" or a "feature" it's bad. Bad Stardock, no biscuit. Planets with influence of 100+ over neighbors, and vastly greater influence radii, should not be falling.
In beta 3 influence was off. This is not a beta 4 problem
