UP Voting

Has anyone else noticed that the mathematical outcome of a UP vote has no effect on the actual outcome of the vote?  I've had several that turned out 3-2 and it was the 2 that won the vote.  Does more go into the voting process than just number of votes?

voting is based on a strength of vote voting...  See below...

Race A has 21% strength in galaxy

Race B has 22% strength in galaxy

Race C has 41% strength in galaxy

Race D has 10% strength in galaxy

Race E has 6% strength in galaxy

So if Race C and D vote Yes and Races A, B, and E vote No  Race C & D win.

Yep. I think people don't know how to access the UP tab in Diplomacy to see their % of clout.

What is clout based on?  Straight population?  Or does influence have any effect?

There is more to it than population, it's based upon several categories but don't ask me which ones lol

I would guess a formula bassed on (%, Economy, military, population, goods and services, influence and approval).

I would like to know the formula, this should be shown on a tool tip somewhere imo.

Sounds right to me. That's basically how it worked in Galciv2 IIRC.

Yep, I had some pretty entertaining UP moments like this... AI wasn't always determined to shoot itself in the foot, but it did seem to have a high pain tolerance when it came to self-mutilation.
