Ships marked as "Obsolete" reappear in shipyard.

Hello, and first of all:  Thank you for making GCIII!   I was a big fan of GCII.

I just started playing, and the biggest issue I've run into so far is that ships marked as "Obsolete" in the shipyard/designer reappear when a saved game is reloaded.  One of my favorite features of the franchise is the ability to build your own ships, but the shipyard list gets a bit cluttered once you reach medium level hulls and not being able to clear the list is frustrating.  So far, however, the designer itself is fantastic!

On a side note, but not a bug:  Looking forward to seeing battle animations.  I know I'm not the first to say it, just adding my vote for that feature to be scheduled for development.

Thank you again!

Actually...I think I may have figured out what is going on.  Had a longer play session and found ships coming back without exiting and reloading.  However, they weren't the originals, they were new marks of the core designs.  Seems that when I have a technological advancement, the mk2, 3, 4, etc is added to the list.  So, apparently not a bug, but I wonder if there is a way to add an option in the menu to disable automatically generated ship designs?

At least the good news:  less of a bug report and more of a feature suggestion!

Well, it is the holidays.  I know they're not in the office right now.  Maybe at that time they were gearing down for a break.  I am sure we shall hear back.  Also, I noticed the same thing with the "User" sorter that you mention in your post.  I, too, thought it to be a filter.  A filter like that would be a good solution.

I wish there was some better motivation to overhaul a M3 or M4 ship to an M18 or M22 design. Sure, it may make a "better" ship due to the hit points but the design just looks the same.

Give us some cut scenes of the ship being overhauled/upgraded? Make the options for what are available for an overhaul/upgrade different if the ship is hauled back into a shipyard or around a planet with Hyperion technologies? (more choices, cooler designs, faster?).

Make some of these big upgrades take MUCH longer to complete (in deep space, going from an M2 to an M18 should take just about forever).

Personally I think the ship model upgrades should be user configurable.

-Use core designs: Y or N

-Import user ship designs from previous games: Y or N

-Automatically obsolete older designs: Y or N

Personally I would answer no to all as I do all my designs manually each games. It starts right at the beginning with the CheapColonizer(td), which cuts on life support to save a few bucks.
