New to GalCiv

I am a long time Civ player and I've always wanted to try GalCiv.  I saw that StarDock had a 50% sale so I bought GalCiv3.  I realize it is still in beta, but is there a good resource to learn about the game?  I doubt a manual is done yet.  How about tutorials on youtube?  Are there any good ones yet?  If not, I'll play around when I have time and wait until the game is out of beta.  If it is anything like Civ, there will eventually be a lot of help out there.

There's a Lets Play from the lead designer on YouTube, which is of beta 1 but it gives a good overview on how you can play.

Go to the galactic civilizations 2 page their are manuals on how to play the game the one Michael Whittaker wrote is based on basic gameplay its works for everyone except the Your. Other than approval and adjancency bonuses it should work to start off here. Eventually I will probably write one for galactic civilizations 3. There are posts for strategy their.

In GALCIV 2 I had several Star Trek Empires in the game as well as BG, B5, and several other Sci-fi races/empires from books and movies I liked.  And looks like we can do that in GC3 as well. 

I've seen several very good player made Star Trek designed ships using the GC3 Ship Designer.

On it's own, not at all. But when the game is finally completed there will no doubt be mods to make it more like Star Trek. In GalCiv2, there was even a Babylon 5 universe mod. Which is where my avatar came from.
