The map UI still freezes

The map interface still freezes up when I'm moving around the map. In beta 1 it use to freeze when an enemy ship appears on the map. It's more than likely freezing for a similar reason now. The odd thing is that I can tell it's still active, because if I press one of the buttons on the interface it would make a sound and the music would change as if the screen had changed. Then I would press the ESC button and I can tell it brought me back to the map screen, but nothing visually had changed.

One time in beta 1 it was able to unfreeze when I went back to the desktop or Start screen and opened up another application.

By the way, I'm using Windows 8.1. If you need anymore information about my computer just ask.

I'm having this problem too. I had it the pre-patch as well.

Deleting the pref.ini file solved this problem for me. Give it a try and post your results here. It may not work for everyone, but is worth trying.  (For those that don't know yet, you can find the pref.ini file at %userprofile%\Documents\My Games\GalCiv3. And you will have to re-establish your preferences.)

Well, that didn't seem to work for me. I deleted it but it didn't fix the problem. Thanks anyway.

I really hope someone is reading this to fix this.

You might (or might not) be more likely to get the developer's attention by moving this post to the Support forum.  Just edit the original post and change the category to Support.

There are two other things you may need to try: 1) show us the CPU and GPU types and driver levels from DxDiag, 2) via Steam, delete the "game content" and re-install GC3. If you do the second thing, you may need to delete the prefs.ini file again.
