Star name length causes confusion

I found a star called "Theblackknight13". Planet I was class 18. Or so I thought. After colonizing turns out it was class 8. The name popup said "Theblacknight 13 I8", which looks like "18" in the current font. "Theblacknight13 II" and longer names get smooshed with the planet class.

So, either the star name is too long, or the popup needs to expand to avoid confusion.

I also ran into this with AnneMolinaLukas III which was Class 8

The third I was overlaid on top of the class and it looked like AnneMolinaLukas II B

Very odd.

On a side note, I really liked the ability to name a star, and to be honest, some of the submissions were (far) better than others.  To the point where I would like to request an exclude list.  I find it really takes away from the game when I see Stars like Theblacknight13 and AnneMolinaLukas.   I mean, honestly...

I agree with this.  When I realized the named stars were in the game after seeing some of these names... it's already breaking immersion for me.  It was a nice gesture (I named mine Icharu), but I don't like it at all.

I was wondering if anyone has seen the star Venessa yet, I have been looking for it, named it after my wife.

I wanted to call it Venessa's Star,  kind of like the real star called "Old Man's Star" but they didn't allow punctuation.

Maybe make this another choosable option on startup? The longest thing to implement/do would seem entering whole bunch of names that the game would have as a Serious/Realistic Star Name Database that it would use if the Players chooses. This would maybe end up as various combinations of Letters and Numbers (welcome to XLFVPT Star 42 , sorry XLFVP..S Star 41? Um, 400,000,000 miles over dere, go thata-way 100,000,000 miles, turn left at the black hole, run like hell past the Drengin home system...Good luck, my good man!

I don't know about it breaking immersion (immersion breakers I love: the humourous/quirky tech quotes, the "pop-up" robot, the funny dialogue from other races ("I was just reading Toture Monthly'" from Kona...)), but if it's not too difficult to implement (doesn't sound it), why not make GalCiv3 as customizable from the Start Screen as possible (ie from "Funny As Hell" to "Gravedigger Serious" immersion sliders, etc)?

That said, I'm mortally offended that you would turn your nose up at the thought of colonizing my Homeworld Wishupona....

Theblackknight13   I guess when you are naming billions of stars you will get almost anything if you keep looking. I wonder if there are Theblackknight 1-12 as well.

That definitely seems like a founders name choice but it seems to me that the game is selecting star that are related to the race. I know, in the game I just played, all the Drengin star names seemed to be what you would expect Drengins to name their stars. Maybe it is just my imagination.
