Apologies for being rude

Hi Stardockers,

I'd like to apologise to Stardock dudes for being a little short with them regarding the issue of Steam...anyway I've moved on and hope there are no hard feelings.  Looks like it will be (as we could have guessed) a mighty fine game when finished.

Although I still find it incredibly ridiculous that the only way to play is through steam and that offline play is not supported.   I consider this a fundamental failure and most urgently suggest that a standalone format is created for offline play ( or lan only) play.

Cheers

You can play offline in steam, and with some luck, stardock will even allow you to play without launching steam at all post release.

You sure on that, I've never been able to do that with LH.

Since i wasn't 100% sure, i restarted steam in offline mode and i could launch galciv2 ultimate, galciv3, sins rebellion and legendary heroes just fine. I didn't bother trying with steam closed you can do that yourself if it's important.

I meant Steam closed not offline play.   Only reason I care about that is in case of a Steam security breach/malware attack, which is very unlikely but not impossible

X3 had a non steam executable. Fyi

But isn't offline mode, offline mode!?!?! You can't get attacked by malware while off online, you just see the starting account tab then it asks would you like offline mode when no connection is found. Is this to unreasonable?

and that was really bad apology for whatever it is you did Sashgala, I actually thought this was genuine. Instead you did a 180° at the end because you couldn't help yourself. :(

DARCA, this is totally inappropriate, insulting, presumptuous, and can't even be considered sarcastic. You have gone way across the line this time and owe Sashgala an apology.

I guess that what we would all like to see is some kind of offline fallback.  Like for example, GC2 - if you've registered it, you're pretty much sorted as far as offline playing is concerned.

Yes it is pretty sad that we do not get to posses our games anymore. Its like buying a tv set but ya gotta look threw your neighbors window to watch it.

Its a crazy world we live in these days.

Jack I believe when you apologize for something you don't throw in the issue in question in at the end and totally contradict and ultimately detract from your apology, its wrong and actually immoral.

In respect to your opinion I have edited my post, leaving out analogies I had previously cherished creating without compromising expression.

DARCA. ;)

Just imagine if in 10 years orso steam becomes obsolete or something better comes along. bye games.

On the topic of Steam and your games. That's why you have them registered with us and that's why we've had registration in the games. When you've registered it with us, should Steam ever fail, we will still be here and will be able to get you your games.

There you go......no problems. I would be much more concerned that if in the future Stardock fails, and we don't get a GalCiv 4....5.....6!!!!!

I really can't see an issue I'm happy to buy almost all my games through steam and have played most of them offline from time to time when my connection is down include LH:FE and others.

The only games that really annoy me are those you can't play at all with no connection even though they are single player.
