Problem with the ship designer

I feel a little embarrassed (dumb) that I am having this problem.

I can't seem to get the hang of rotating the ship hulls after adding, or to place parts. I haven't found a way to select the entire ship including all parts. No problem with the individual parts, just the ship as a whole.

I never had a problem with GCII and I really enjoyed designing ships, but I just can't seem to get the hang of this system and the rotating apparatus. It is like I am somehow missing a control to do what I want to do. Is there a wiki or a tutorial on it anywhere?

are trying to view or actually turn the ship around?  for viewing hold the scroll button to move the view.  To rotate the ship choose the first part and rotate it  the rest of the attached parts will follow.

Aha! I was afraid that was the problem. I have a task assigned to the scroll button  (refresh). I'll need to reprogram my mouse.

Thanks

Nope, I am still not getting it. Is there no simple way to get a top view, bottom view, rear view and head on. without manipulating the red, green, blue, rotating rings?

When I use the rotate rings I am not rotating the entire ship, just the wings, engine or some other part. I can't seem to select the whole ship.

Very frustrating.

I'd like to second that request for buttons for top/side/front views. I use those constantly in GCII and they are very helpful.

I still have not been able to use the designer to rotate the ship left and right or to raise or lower the nose or tail to see to position items. For some reason, the standard method the of the players are using just doesn't work. IU haven't programed any buttons, and am using a new microsft wireless mouse and keyboard.

I have the same problem as well.  I am using a Logitech Trackball.

These will be coming back. Just not hooked up yet.

There is allot of polish we still have planned.  For selection etc. Hopefully we will be able to address most of your concerns.

You have to hold down the scroll wheel and you can move it around pretty good. I was using an Anker gaming mouse that I had programmed for the wheel to refresh when pressed and I couldn't get it deprogrammed.  :) Changed to a Logitech wireless and it worked fine. Fortunately I have lots of mice.

Nice to know they are going to add more controls.

Nope, even holding down the scroll wheel doesn't work for me. Guess I'll have to swap in a different mouse when I play this game. That is ridiculous.

Which types/brands of mice are not working properly? Also have any of the keys been reprogrammed on the mice?

I've found it best to scroll the ship away from you, then hold the scroll wheel down while moving the mouse. It seems to work better then when the ship is up close. Get the position you want then scroll the ship back up for close detail,

My mouse that didn't work was an Anker Gaming Mouse and yes the center button had been programed to refresh. I tried to de-program the center button but had no success. I probably could have figured it out but I just changed to a Logitech wireless and it works great.

Microsoft wireless mouse 5000. I have not programmed it for anything.
