Multiplayer questions.

So first off, what exactly are our multiplayer options?

Are we stuck with online only? Or can we play hot seat?

Secondly, will there be the option for allied victories? Being able to ally with other players (and AI factions) and win as a team is definitely important. And when playing with another player, it tends to get around that inevitable stalemate that generally happens (once both human players basically divide the galaxy between them). :)

Also how exactly are multiplayer tuns being worked out? Normal turn order? Simultaneous turns?

Will there be options for "allied vision" and such, where multiple sides can share vision ranges and spot for each other?

And if there's hot seat, how will visual warnings (like when the camera pans to show enemy moves - if that's a thing) work? Some games end up only showing those from the first player's view. Will each player be given their warnings?

There are no plans for hot seat.

I'm pretty sure having conquered everyone who isn't your ally is a victory condition that will be in as soon as diplomacy is in. Not sure if this will count as a conquest victory, a diplomatic victory, or a separate allied victory. In addition, you'll notice in the player lobby that there is a column for "team." Players set to the same number will be on the same team. I'm not sure exactly what this means, but I think it will be basically you start allied.

Turns are not simultaneous, but you will be able to do basically everything but move ships while other players are taking their turns.

Yeah, there is normal turn based multiplayer, not simultaneous. I was abit skeptical to that, but when you can do everything when it's not your turn it works very well (the Civ5 turn based mode is terrible at this, but this seems to be alot better implemented in GalCiv3). You can even design ships while it's not your turn. It will be the best way to play multiplayer of this game in my view now, at least with up to 4 humans or so.

Advantages are the game is played like intended/designed with turns, not fastest click that leads to the so-called doubble moves. Downside of course is there is a limit on how many humans there can be in the game before it becomes abit tedius.

Anyways, I'm very excited that we now finally have MP in a Stardock strategy. I've beem dreaming of playing GalCiv2 and FE: Legendary Heroes in multiplayer for sooooo long. Guess I'll start my MP-playing rush with Beta2, and all new content there, including diplomacy.

It's a real shame there's no hot seat. That's how my friends and I play all these games (Master of Orion 2, Heroes of Might & Magic series, Civ, etc).

"Teams" usually mean that players are in a preset alliance that never changes. It's... okay, but not as good as having the actual diplomatic options to form alliances and such.

How exactly do the teams work? Is it just players on the team not able to attack each other and sharing victory? Are there still going to be the normal diplomatic options between them?
