UI Text doesn't display

Hi,

Just bought the game and the UI text doesn't display. I get a message on startup complaining about not haviing DirectX 10.1, which is off given that I'm using Directx 11.

I'm using a laptop with a Radeon 6630M GPU. The laptop manufacturer hasn't provided updated drivers since mid 2012 and using updates directly from AMD cause the GPU to shut down entirely.

Any suggestions for how to proceed?

It's not your laptop's fault. It's a game issue they've known about for a while, but they don't seem to consider it too important, having released the beta without fixing it. If you don't have an onboard GPU, you can't play the game. If you have an onboard GPU, you can look at menus, because it will be too slow to actually play the game.

Please see this thread.

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't look at your dxdiag. I see you have an Intel HD onboard GPU. You can force your laptop to use the Intel HD, instead of your AMD card, from the Catalyst Control. Your text should be fine then, but the game is unplayable on an integrated chip.

Sorry to hear you are having an issue.

Nadiox: I edited out your machine information (I have it) as it makes the post difficult to follow.  I would like you to please place a ticket here:

Please use your post text in the ticket as well as the information from the SDSupportTool.exe below.

Believe me when I say; we take every issue very seriously and no feedback, or reported issue, is ignored.  We are working on what the issue is here and will have further posts on the matter when more is known.

As with Nadiox, please use the ticket link to place a ticket with a tool run and a description of the issue (an amalgamation of your other posts is fine).

Again, we are sympathetic to your frustration and please know that this is a priority for us to resolve.

I get the exact same error and im also using a switchable graphics laptop. I've submitted a support ticket, however I can totally understand why bbr91 seems to think it's not a high concern when the last word on this seems to be April this year.

I can assure you, it is not from neglect.  There are third parties involved which has proven to be an obstacle to an expeditious solution.

Same problem for me

The game is unplayable because i simply cant read any text on the start menu

I have a "fancy" laptop with integrated card and Nvidia geforce card, i assigned the geforce to run galciv3 but it doesnt change anything.

edit : I updated my drivers 3 weeks ago, i will try my luck with updates again see if it fix something

Running version 0.41 final and the issue is not solved. UI text still does not display when running on the dedicated AMD GPU.

The patch was to force the game to use the integrated Intel graphics card.  While this will not be optimal for some, it is the current solution until then next patch is released  It's no small task to fix what the issue is but it is our top priority currently.

I am looking forward to the next patch then. Thank you for the update.

AMD has an update tool to give your Radeon the best driver it can handle.

The other I have done is use CCC to make the game exe use power saving so my Intel HD is used.

I just wanted to update this thread, the font missing fix is in beta 2.

Patch notes here:

The text renders properly now in Beta 2 (v .50). Issue is solved. Thank you!

For those with the integrated graphics cards. After getting the Beta 2 update, be sure to set your graphics settings to
High Performance mode to get the best performance.
