Will Alpha get any update prior to Beta? (Nvidia driver bug keeps me from playing)

Greetings!

So I know to roll back the video driver to avoid the annoying horizontal lines that crop up with the new driver. My question is really about the end of our Alpha.

Will we see any update prior to the release of the beta we have seen on the streams, and if not will the nvidia horizontal lines bug be fixed upon the release of beta?

Anyway, I am eagerly looking forward to the next phase in the development of our game!

From what I read on the NVidia web site, the level 340.52 GeForce driver has a lot off issues, not just with GC3, but with a lot of other games as well.

To roll back your driver (I recommend the 337.88 level) go to www.nvidia.com -> "Drivers" tab ->"Beta and older drivers" fill in the six fields (all of them are pull down lists) "Product type", "Product Series", "Product", "Operating System", "Language", and "Recommended/Beta" and click "search". Then select a driver to start the download.

Don't forget, if you are using "NVIDIA GeForce Experience" to change your settings to prevent automatic updates. Leave notifications on so you can get a notification of a newer driver when they fix this problem (which might initially be a Beta).

I would love an update to see the last two changes made, talked about on the Dev streams.

Been on Alpha v0.31 seems forever, no use in testing anything till I get more game updates.

Ill roll back to 337.88 tonight. Also it is a certified driver, so I am wondering if they (Stardock) will account for it.

Plase post your specific video card. As it may be related to a series or a specific architecture. Without the specific video card you have it'll be hard for Stardock to track down the problem.

I build my own rigs. I have an EVGA Geforce 670 GTX with the latest drivers WHQL and will often use Beta drivers.

This is a known issue. I have submitted the entire information even through the Stardock Information tool they have you down load, run and submit back to them.

Nvidia released a new WHQL driver last week. That is the cause of the horizontal lines, as previous drivers do not do this.

It's important to post the video card.

Mostly because I remember in B02, it had this really really weird problem where people had clipping issues with horses sinking into the sand and other things. But it ONLY manifested itself on GTX400 cards. Which was weird given that the GTX400 and 500s are almost identical architecturally.

So far we have the GTX600s as a correlative factor. Hopefully others can post their specs and see if the issue impacts other Nvidia lines as well.

Satoru1, just to update a bit. I do feel this is a driver issue. I rolled back to 337.88 and the issue has disappeared. I believe if it was hardware related the issue would persist regardless of driver used. I could be wrong and Stardock/Nvidia would know better than me.

I have an older 560 EVGA using driver 340.52 looks great in-game

I'm running GTX 550 Ti with 340.52 and having no problems, so it sounds like it may be isolated to the 600 series cards.

Is there going to be a patch?

Why would it be limited to architecture if a rollback to a previous driver works?

Maybe because of the way the driver was written to utilize the new hardware?

The 670 GTX is a rather new card. Its also a higher end performing one as compared to any TI series. Granted Nvidia is releasing the new 800 series, I do not think the issue would be hardware related.

The issue manifests in game when you zoom out at a particular distance. You will get the horizontal lines. This occurred as soon as we updated to the new driver. Rolling back to an older driver such 337 and the problem disappears.

Mine is a GT 640 (no "X").

Any new hardware architecture requires new software to implement it.  Sometimes it takes a few iterations to get it right. It is quite possible that NVidia is not testing their driver with GC3, which could be using more of the newer features of the architecture than currently shipped games.

It can be just like in my BO2 example above.

The Founder's Elite product is going away forever next week, so it's now or never for folks who may want in.

Just for the record and FWIW, I am running GT 610 with the 340.52 driver on Win 8.1 and I have not had a problem.

How often has this problem occurred, percentage wise and is there any common denominator?

Franco, with the updated driver go to options and enable both Bloom and the box under it. Reload, then zoom about halfway from the map and see if the problem occurs.

I am running the latest driver, 340.52, on GeForce GTX 870M that is in a 2014 Razer Blade.  I do not see any horizontal lines.  My issue is that it runs only at 7-10 FPS even those I have it configured via Nvidia Control Panel to run Galciv3.exe exclusively on the GPU.  But it is a alpha game so that is the way it goes.

Larsenex. I just tried it bloom has been on for me, zoomed in and out several times. Never saw any horizontal lines. Checked the middle zone slowly in and out...nothing. Only the hex lines.
