Iridium Starport Colony Ship?

I may be overlooking something very elementary but I am playing as the Iridium and when I go to construct more colony ships they are not on the list. When I try to build one from scratch the colony modules aren't available as a part at all. So my initial reaction was I needed to research something - but I have (quickly) looked over the tech tree and cannot find a tech to research something that will grant me colony ships that also has a tooltip associated with it for the colony module. I am assuming the tool tips aren't finished and it is one of the techs in the tech tree. But I thought the ships were available right off the bat.

Can anyone shed some light on my poor little colonists wanting to settle more worlds? :)

Thanks!

The irirdiums do not start with the technology to colonize planets. This was mentioned in the streams as something they are tinkering with to balance out the races starting abilities.

The iridiums get awesome starting abilities but is handicaped by not able to colonize right off the bat and need to research the Colonizing techs to get the modules to build the ships.

Same for Drengin.

The Altarians and Earthers get colony ships. Altarians do not get constructors at first but Earthers do.

Hope this helps.

Very helpful thank you!!! I had always played Terrans. I figured it was an early tech but it was late and I didn't want to futz around. Now I am am colonizing like a bandit and taking notes as I go. I like the Iridiums - having great fun with the Alpha 3!

As far as space junk goes - how does it factor in? it says star base effect but I cannot see clearly what it does.

Starbase effect is just that. If you had some rings that gave your ships defensive or offensive abilities you would get them. Also your ship regenerate dmg FASTER in the effect than they would if they were in enemy territory or open space.
