Strange bug.

UI issues.

Hello guys.

I have a strange bug where buttons and drop box's are no longer labeled.  I noticed it first in the selection screens before the game, the galaxy size and other selectables were blank.  If you clicked on one you would get the drop down list and you could select large or whatever but the box would stay blank after that.

Once I got into the game, many buttons were blank.  For example I clicked where I remembered the orders box was and got a sub menu.  It too was blank.  So is the turn button and the information on the top right.

Across the top left we have a series of blank box's but this time there is other information there, they are just not formated or in their respective box.  I see Earth, the number 10 in the second box,  4.0BC in no box, 5.4 4.8 5/5 cut in half by the box border, and the queue empty.

When I try to go to options, most box's there are empty as well.

I didn't have this issue with Alpha 2.0.  I am looking into a screenshot, but right now I have no way to post the image online.

I have A Windows 8.1 Machine with a GTX 780M video card. (This machine also has integrated video, but it doesn't matter if I switch video cards.)

I am going to check for video card driver updates, but since the issue persists on the Intel integrated video I don't believe that is the issue.

Ok, so I updated my drivers but it didn't make a difference.  My windows was already up to date.

I got a dropbox so that I could show you what I was seeing.

The game didn't crash and seemed normal as far as I can tell.  Here is the debug.err

After Patch 1 for alpha 3, this issue still persists.

Some feedback would be nice, did you guys see this?  Is it something with my install?

Does it still persist if you reinstall the game?

Yes it does persist after a re-install.

I had steam delete local content first and then re-downloaded.

It sounds like the fonts are not showing up in game. Have you tried this...

I'm not saying it would fix your problem. But I don't think it would hurt to try to re-install the fonts.

End of parrottmath's quote

That looked promising but unfortunately it didn't help.  I tried twice, once I ran the executable as administrator just to be sure.  I very much appreciate the ideas and help.

I suppose I wasn't all the clear before.  What I was looking for in terms of feedback was someone from Star Dock advising that either they know about the bug and are looking into it, or they think it is something on my side and I should be spending more time trying to figure it out from here.  I spent the time waiting for the 3.1 patch rather than messing with things myself because I had reported the issue.  With no feedback from Star Dock it was left up to my guess and imagination as to whether that was a good idea or not.  I know Star Dock employees check the forums for issues.  Did they pick this one up and add it to a bug list?  Did they miss it?

I got a little frustrated and hence the "some feedback would be nice" comment.

At the same time, I did want to be rear-endum about it either.

It does seem to crop up for some people and not for others. Makes me wonder if it's a specific version of drivers for a specific video card. Would you let us know the driver number and the card you have? Perhaps we can ask everybody who has the same problem to do the same in this thread. This was we could help Stardock as well.

My video card is a Gforce GTX 780M and the driver is 327.02.

The integrated video card is Intel HD Graphics 4600 and its driver is 10.18.10.3621

I updated both drivers to the latest to try to fix this issue when Alpha 3 first came out. I don't know what the old drivers were.  This issue is new to Alpha 3 and Alpha 2 worked fine.

I have tested the game using both video cards.

I saw another thread where they were also experiencing this issue with a system with CPU graphics and a dedicated card. They switched from the dedicated to the CPU, and it (missing text) was fixed, but the graphics quality suffered horribly.
