Silly question I'm sure; but A. Are space battles enabled in Alpha? And if so how do in turn them on/view them?
If you mean the Battle Viewer from GalCiv 2, then no, that's not in yet.
If you mean space combat in general, then yes, that's already in. However, there are no combat effects at the moment, and destroyed ships simply vanish.
Yes detailed space battle viewing they have said is likley to not be in until one of the later betas.
Thank you for the quick replies; it's what I suspected. But a post from March was complaining about FPS in what I gathered was a large fleet action (?) on a i7. (Heck I haven't even found a way to check FPS yet- sure it's there but I don't see the point yet. Game plays smooth on my Xeon from '07)
We had/have a bunch of optimization problems, being an alpha and all, which could/can make even general gameplay laggy. A few people with 'compatible' hardware needed to wait for the game to be patched before they could even start it.
Joys of public alpha, eh?
