Will World be able to Build Ships and World Improvements separately again?

Hi there,

I really love what you are doing with GC3, please keep up the great work  . If I was to be picky though, one of the things I really liked about GC2 was that you could build Ships and World Improvements separately from each other on the same world at the same time. I would love for that to continue over to GC3, and I wonder if you are going to add that in again later as the game develops?

Take care

Yep, but it will be different from GC2

There will be a "shipyard" that you build on the main map with constructors (currently the only ship which can be built on planets) that will handle ship-building, while planets focus on improvements. You'll be able to route the production of multiple planets to a single shipyard as well.

Short answer, yes.

For long answer Look at the founder`s vault documents.

Thanks guys, that great news :)

One of the things I have always thought would benefit these games, is a 'Master Overview' where you can tell a certain percentage of planets or cities to build one thing and others somthing else, and then even set a rally point for the units to go to once they have been build. This would greatly help manage huge empires, but its sounds like you are already tackling this issue with the ParagonRenegade mentioning being able to route the production of multiple planets to a single shipyard, which is a good idea.

Anyway, I will have to take a look at the Founder's Vault Documents, thanks again and I cannot wait until its finished :)

How can you go to the vault if your not a founder? Or are you waiting for your order to be processed? Maybe a guy named EvilMaxWar lied to you. Lol

Naw, I know him, he probably thought you were though.

At the top of the screen is the tab labeled "Game"

The vault is on that page, on the bottom left.

Thanks for the info all.

To add some more constructive thought, I was initially against the idea of splitting manufacturing and ship building. I thought it was a needless complication of Gal Civ 2.

But I do like the centralized starbase idea. I agree that allowing you to combine planets to a single starbase can help reduce monotony. It can also allow for very expense ships without requiring aeons to build. Overall I think its a great idea.

Agreed. The problem with these games is when the micro management gets out of hand when your empire gets too big, it just turns it into a total drag going through each world or city to change their building settings individually.

Master Overview Tool

Here is my idea again more flushed out. Basically its a Master Overview of your empire, and you can choose to use this option for then it gets too big to manage in the normal mode of the game.

At the top you have a map of your empire, where you can select which of your planets will fall under which build policy you want to put them. In this case Policy A and B. The pentagon controls the percentage of planets telling them what they will build, depending on what policy they fall under. Then you could also set up rally points in this tool too, to send the completed units when they have finished being built.

You can have as many policies as you like and each one can have a different shape depending on how many build options you give it.

Its just an idea anyway :) Now I must get back to work on my own job ;)
