How do I set the direction?

There used to be an option to set the direction your ship(s) went when leaving a planet. I have yet to find it, but definitely want to see it back.

Yes I don't think it is there at the moment, they may well intend to bring it back but not have the feature in yet. However just in case I'd like to say that I too would like to see that feature back in GC3.
with YS100 coming we will need this for both the shipyard as the planet
True but it shouldn't be too much effort to add it for both although it will actually be much more important for the shipyard since you will probably not build ships on planets often.
It will still be important; as it takes up less movement points to orbit a planet and then leave it continuing on in the same direction (or turning if desired) rather than skirting the planet.
I'd like to see this as a feature with all planets, even one's you don't own. Ships should still be able to orbit a planet whether it is owned or not.
However, leaving without being able to set your direction would negate the feasibility and desirability to do such.
One might even consider ships in orbit to be less detectible by the enemy; but that's probably an idea for a different post.
