Text on UI buttons missing

As stated in the title, the text on the majority of the buttons does not appear. In some cases it appears on other parts of the screen, and sometimes the text appears correct for a brief moment, but the majority of the time it is missing.

Ensure you have the latest video drivers for your video card

This worked. And I feel like an idiot for not thinking of it. Or rather, thinking "Nah, those are in date, I don't need to bother." Thank you for pointing it out.

Text still missing after update my AMD Radeon HD 7700M latest driver

Currently Mobility AMD/Nvidia cards have a lot of issues with the game. even if you force the AMD/Nvidia card

My recommendation is to update your INTEL drivers from www.intel.com and play the game via the Intel card instead of your 'real' one.

The next patch has a lot of fixes for the font problem people are seeing, which should hopefully resolve your issue on your AMD Mobility card.

After i update all drive including intel,

I have solve the missing text by disable the graphic card but it slow down the graphic 90% speed which is unacceptable to play.

When and where i can install the next patch?

Speak of the devil it JUST came out

Try forcing the AMD card and see if that helps

Please update if you are having issues after receiving the latest patch. If you are, please post your debug file and your dxdiag file that way I can get a better handle on the situation. Thanks! :)

I have solve the problem by change the setting from "High Performance" to "Power Saving" mode

in Switchable Graphics Application Setting (AMD Catalyst Control Center)

The graphic performance slow 40% compare with high performance mode.

Hope these info help u guys.

I also have the same problem with my switchable AMD 8730M. I have the latest stable drivers installed. If I'm running on the integrated Intel HD4000 I can see the text, but when running on the 8730M, there's no text at all.

This has to be sorted out in alpha. Please find my DxDiag here.

bbr91: Thank you for reporting your issue and sending your dxdiag information.

Do you think this bug will be fixed before the alpha test finishes?

To update on the situation:

If updating graphic drivers did not help fix the issue. We have noticed that there is a bug were text does not appear to show up when using the high performance mode. We are currently working with Intel to try to address this.

This seems to be an AMD issue rather than an Intel one, since we here are all using AMD Mobility cards. But you guys know best.

I have updated my AMD drivers to the latest beta which introduce Mantle support for Mobility cards and I still have the same issue.

Thanks for the update, hope you'll find a solution to this problem. :)

Is there any progress on this issue at all? I would also like to enjoy playing the beta at least, since I could not play the alpha because of this. Surely there are plenty of people using AMD switchable graphic cards who would like to play.

for a temp fix set your switchable grapix to power saving for the game.

Thank you, I am aware of this temporary fix, as stated earlier. But the performance is appalling, the game is unplayable on an Intel HD 4000.

Nope, I've got an Intel I7-4200 2.4ghz quad core and its an issue for me too.

Graphics card is a Nvidia Geforce GT740M and I've got 12 gigs of ram and I'm using Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

I've got a monitor with a widescreen display and a resolution of 1600 X 900 which could be a problem, do any of you guys have a widescreen monitor?

UPDATE:

I checked and discovered that my graphics card driver was way out of date even though the card's utility claimed it was up to date.

So I manually updated and now the text displays.

So check your drivers.

Thank you, but as mentioned earlier, I tried both the latest stable and the latest beta drivers, to no avail.

I know some people believe switchable graphics are bad, evil and they don't work, but out of the hundreds of games I own on Steam, Origin and uPlay, only GalCiv 3 and Game Dev Tycoon have issues. But of course GalCiv 3 is early beta so doesn't count.

The Dif seems Mobile cards can use the temp fix.

Regular cards need an update

I just realised I can update the intel HD graphics 4000 driver in device manager without loosing the ability to switch beetween cards.

I'm not able to update that driver from dell download page but I'm able to update the amd radeon HD 7670M driver from dell and it contains the catalyst control center where I can switch between cards.

So now both driver should be up to date although the date of the drivers doesn't change in the drivers info and I still get the outdated video driver window when starting galciv. I thought maybe I could play on the intel 4000 after updating but I can't.

When using Intel HD graphics 4000: Text appears on UI buttons and info windows but they get stuck on the screen, after few clicks the screen is flooded with text.

When using AMD Radeon HD 7670M: Text on UI buttons and info windows doesn't appear.

Running version 0.41 final and the issue is not solved. UI text still does not display when running on the dedicated AMD GPU.

Finally got the Intel card working for the game.

My computer is dell dimension 5520 and I finally managed to update both drivers.

To other people who have dell computers I suggest not using dell drivers.

I downloaded drivers from the cards manufactures Intel and amd, both drivers from 2014.

I did not lose the ability to switch between cards, I don't get the messages any more about

outdated videocards and the font doesn't get stuck on the screen any longer when using the Intel card.

Still have the missing font problem on the amd card of course but thats all. :)

With each new update I try my Radeon. It does not work so go back to the Intel

Just for curiosity what driver version for Intel do you have. Mine is 10.18

Also my Catalyst is 14.7 and Rad driver is 14.2

When using my Intel it seems the the Radeon open GL and open CL is used.
