Is it really supposed to cost 600 billion credits to capture an enemy colony????
At these prices it can cost dearly to win the game.

I didn't actually notice until recently. Tourism seems to pay enough to cover all expenses for me.
I've only just noticed the costs with capturing colonies too, I'm playing my first game as the Drengin and because my economy has not been my focus I've gone into the negatives more than once after I conquered a colony. My other games as Terrans were non-events because my economy was healthy + anomaly wealth + minimal expansion of enemies due to my prescursor ships + camping & killing any ships spawned for giggles.
Until Lucky Jack pointed it out I hadn't noticed it, but it's happening to me too.
According to the Roman empire, it should be the opposite. Capturing things = Spoil of war
<InvasionDisruptionCost>600</InvasionDisruptionCost>
That seems to drive teh 600 credit cost. Though I'm not sure why its a 'disruption cost'?
Of course GC2 had different invasion techniques that included differing costs ("Information Warfare" for example, that cost credits to propagandize the populace to revolt and join you). So perhaps the alpha temporary invasion system is using something like that. I expect it to change
Right, if you look at something like the 30 years war, most of the devastation it caused was soldiers plundering the land they stayed in (that and plague of course, which killed more lives and caused more damage than the entire series of wars).
That Reminds me when I was playing Medieval Total war II. I loved to go on crusades and Plunder everything on my path. That was one of the best way to make money in the game. After I plundered and killed and destroyed everything. I would sell the province to a random nation and move on to plunder the next one
My favorite way of making money was blasting the crap out of the mongols, asking for tribute to get peace, then having them attack you anyways and keep giving tribute for peace after you crushed them (every turn).
Didn't work with the Timurids though... stupid elephants
600 does seem to be a bit expensive isn't it?
Well, As someone pointed earlier, I think it is an Alpha "feature" where some money costing invasion technique is applied by default, I would not worry about that. SD will make it fine in a subsequent update.
My assumption is that there will be techs that will decrease teh cost of this.
Perhaps the logic is that even if you can't 'own the skies' you can make ground war so expensive that trying to take over your planets is not cost effecive, even for highly militarized societeis?
The simple answer is no. It should not cost that much. I will look into the cause of it.
If you have save that illustrates the problem please send it into support.
How much is it supposed to cost?
OK, found the problem, it was defaulting to the most expensive option. (which was way to high, and behind not even accessible by the player) i am fixing the data it will be in the next build. It will cost 0bc to invade for the rest of the alpha.
On the bad side once this is fixed invasions will get a bit tougher.
How about a compromise between 600 for easy invasions and 0 for difficult? ie pay something and have then somewhat easier but not as easy as now?
It will change once the real invasion system is in, but for now there is really no need to charge, money is hard to get without trade at the moment anyway.
