No words
I just downloaded the Founders edition and on my first play attempt there were no words on any interface. Help?

Many people have discovered that updating to the newest GPU driver solves this problem. If you will run DxDiag and post the "Display Devices" section here then one of us will be better able to help.
I hope this is what you're referring to, if not just let me know:
Drivera from 2011 - seems quite old....
did id you try finding a newer set of drivers for your machine?
r.
Not so much no... That's usually a sign of an ATI. But, do you have an ATI or a NVidea graphics card? Red or Green basically?
ATI(AMD) Auto detect card: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool
NVidea Auto detect card: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Scan.aspx?lang=en
One of those will tell you/prompt you what to do, but very importantly you need to get the beta drivers. On the ATI side of the fence (being the side that I've had to do) once it's figured out what drivers you want, scroll down and find the link that says or try the beta drivers and grab that one!
Also it's worth going to steam and validating the games local files, right click the game in steam > properties > local files > validate integrity of game cache

I tried to update my drivers and nothing seemed to help. Obviously I'm not great with computers... I've tried both of the sites above and neither one of them helped me with anything...
Neither Nvidia nor ATI/AMD, the DXdiag clearly says you're running Intel HD GPU, which is an integrated one, coming with the CPU.
More specifically, Intel HD 3000 GPU. (http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Core-i5-2450M-Notebook-Processor.65510.0.html)
You should check your vendor or ACER website first, if they have newer drivers for your laptop. If not, then you could try to find generic Intel HD 3000 drivers. Be warned though that updating laptop (GFX) drivers with anything other than the laptop's manufacturer supplied ones can be tricky (some info: http://aegidian.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=7444 for example).
Your driver version is veyr old for the Intel card
You should go to
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx
Use their automated tool to get the latest Intel drivers for your laptop. The game should work on an HD3000 (I think)
When I select the most recent driver it says that the one I have installed already is newer than the one I am attempting to install. Is that normal?
