Go to the "Store" tab at the top. That will take you to the screen where you can buy the Elite Founder's package.

I recommend against getting the alpha package if you've only recently heard of the series, it's an acquired taste for sure.

Deifnitely. Alpha isn't the best place for a new player to jump in. It's going to not work all that well.

Get GalCiv 2 on steam.  It's cheap.  If you like this sort of thing, 4X in space, then you will probably love GC2 and be psyched for the beta when it comes out.

Keep in mind that the Alpha is the game at its most basic. In other words, the March 27th release will be to see how well the game works on other machines. A lot of us will be dealing with crashes, hard stops, driver/hardware incompatibility issues and the like. If you would like to join in on this fun (breaking things can be fun) then feel free to jump in. If you want a stable game that is completed (as much as any game is complete) then you are going to have to wait a while. 2015 is current official release year. Until then I recommend Galactic Civiliations II to see if you like the lore and concepts that will be in III.

Good advice from Ryat here. If you've had no experience with this particular game it might be wise to check it out first before putting down $99us for being allowed access to the Alpha. Do check out GC2 to get a feel for what's to come. It sounds like you will like it.
