Video: Things You Can Do With The Galactic Civilizations Ship Editor

More precisely, with the Galactic Civilizations II Ship Editor.

The GC2 Ship Editor is about 6 years old now and people are still creating and showing off some really cool ship designs with it.  This is awesome, but I can't wait to see what people will come up with the new ship editor in GalCiv 3.

I would sometimes spend more hours designing ships than I actually did playing the game.  I've seen lots of talk about the GC ship editor, so I think it's safe to assume you are just as excited as I am about it. :)

Aww! I though you had exclusive GC3 ship editor video footage... :'(

I was exactly the same. Cannot wait to see what the new editor looks like! From what I've heard so far, I believe I will be spending most of my time there once again.

personally I have 0 creative or artistic skills and while I want a ship that looks cool most I the time I would just slap some pieces together and load it up with weapons

im hoping that ship templates will be easy to get so I can be both lazy and have a ship that looks good

Haha, ditto about just slapping the pieces together, I just use the default template most of the times. But that being said, I think the system in GalCiv 2 is brilliant and what some people have been pulling off is very impressive.

The ships in this video are amazing. And they were all designed with the GC2 ship designer? WOW. I wish we had a way of sharing ships in GC2. Oh, that's right. We did, kinda. The ship designs were saved in discrete files and we could send those files to each other.

Or sharing them via the GalCiv 2 Library ...

Yep. Forgot about that. Which starts me wondering, will the sharing be via Steam somehow, or will it be via a new StarDock library for GalCiv 3? Maybe this will be another wait and see thing.

I hope there's more "primitives" this time around.  I felt limited by the ship editor in Galciv2 because all the parts looked like they were for specific purposes (and races)
