Every reply in this thread is a walking misconception of ignorance.
He's not saying stardock should do away with the humor, or 'charm' as he calls it.
The point is you don't need evil squirrels and teddy bears to be funny.
Silly silly post
What the hell is a "Walking misconception of ignorance"? Is it when you have a false idea of what ignorance is and then attach legs to it?
More to the point, you seem to be missing part of the story yourself. Op said he did not find the humor in GalCiv funny. Many posts are responding to that specifically saying that they do not agree.
Secondly, OP said that he hoped galciv3 "would at least try this time to take itself seriously". This imply that he wishes GalCiv3 would get rid of the type of humor in galciv2, and possibly mostly get rid of humor altogether as "Taking yourself seriously" tend to be not very compatible with humor.
Thirdly, "The point is you don't need evil squirrels and teddy bears to be funny". Is that really the only point? The part that implies this is but a small part of the OP and imho the less relevant because it is a statement of an opinion and it offers no alternative together. What would be appropriately funny for galciv then? Is it the job of people who like those things to suggest the alternatives? I think not. It appears that many people on this forum LIKE evil squirrels, some even asked for them to be a playable race.
The key sentence in the op imho is the very last one. He was looking for people's opinions, and that is what he got. And then when people are done giving their opinion they start writing semi-related random stuff, because this is what happens on forums.
