I disagree. Humour is immersive as fuck. A good joke on the part of a Dregin or Yor will serve to contrast the many differences, obvious and less obvious, between two civilizations. The Yor comment about how we communicate by moving wet meat around in a cavity is my favorite example, it serve to underline how alienated a cybernetic artificial race should truly feel in a universe dominated by biological life forms.

I'm not sure how you could achieve the same by being all serious and everything.

I have to disagree as well. The humour was funny, and really helped my immersion. Most importantly though, Frogboy had this to say about it in a similar thread:

We have a way too much "serious" games which aren't serious, nor funny. So I'm with Eric Frank Russell's Minor ingredient - we need humour, because there is deficit of it. And I actually find GC to be mature, because their mix of seriousness and humour is well adjusted.

We have had a few more threads about the Humour of GalCiv and it seems that the general consensus is that most GalCiv players like this aspect. I certainly do. Furthermore it has become somewhat of a staple of the series at this point. 

I think the humour fits GalCiv 2 and has its place in the game.  I think Brad is on the point about embracing the humor aspect  and implementing it in a more thought out and uniform way. I am looking forward to it. 

In galciv 2 you had the Campaign which had a serious tone but when you got down to playing the game and civ interactions it was more light hearted. I liked that duality between the two, I am looking for the same in GalCiv3

Maybe someone can pull out a ''Serious Gal Civ mod'' for those who do not like it.

P.S: I am currently playing Ur-Quan Masters and im really cracking up. I hope to see the same type of humor in GalCiv but maybe not on such a over the top level. The dialogue with the aliens in this game are full of awesome.

Having been absent from this community (GalCiv palyers) for many years it was a pleasant surprise to find that there is a GC3 coming in the future and, more importantly, still I lively and diverse community of faithful fans here. 

I will be sure to return again, hopefully sooner than in a few years this time, and check the new game out!

On topic, the Gal Civ franchise humour is fantastic, I'd very happily see it expanded upon, not reduced!

I agree about the squirrels, but I like the humour in tech descriptions and diplomatic dialogue to be kept.

I also like the humor in the GC series. But I think it is important to also point out that humor is in the eye of the beholder. I don't think we can ALL be in agreement about whether GC2 was humorous or not.

Actually now that im thinking about it there should be a minor race that tries to throw a major pun in every time you talk to them. to the point that you're sitting in your chair groaning just because you need to talk to them and are dreading to see what the pun is this time.

They should be called 'The Punklemans', but whatever you call them that would be my favourite race in the game!! I'd talk to them every chance I got hahahaha

I wonder how the copyright of this would work, if they could actually license the idea from hitch hikers guide? Because yes, yes yes yes! With the Snathi, the Dark Yor and these two minor civ's in a game....
