System Requirements

Hi I run a computer I got back in 2011.  Its specs are Win 7 x64 with a Core 2 Quad [email protected] with 4 GB RAM and a Radeon 4600 with 3GB VRAM.  I would really like to buy the Founder's Edition, but haven't seen any spec requirements anywhere.  Does anyone know if I'll be able to run this?

Thanks

Dave

All we know so far is that the minimum requirement is a 64bit processor and operating system. I imagine these forums will have a good idea of what the ideal system requirements will be after the alpha comes out, late next month!

The only statement I remember is in the FAQs (available via the GAMES tab above):

"Q: What are the requirements to run Galactic Civilizations III?
A: It will require a 64-bit version of Windows 7 or 8 along with a DirectX 10 or 11 compatible video card. There will be no 32-bit version. Most PC gamers in 2013 have this kind of hardware, and it allows us to create the best game possible for the majority of our customers."
It looks to me like what you have may be ok. Sorry for being a bit uncertain, but we have not received anything more definitive than the Q&A above.  I looked up your graphics card on the AMD website and it says the Radeon 4600 is designed to work with DirectX 10.1. That, and your windows 7 64bit operating system meets the minimum requirements stated by StarDock. Questions on these Fora have pondered how much memory the game is going to need, but no answers have been received from StarDock. (Note that Windows 7 itself requires a bit over 2G RAM to run, so the minimum can not be less than 4G.)

I think you will be fine.

This is pure speculation, but if you can upgrade to 8 GB of RAM, i would recommend doing so.

Because they are using 64-bit, they have the potential to use a lot more RAM. Not that you would need the more RAM, but it will probably be useful.

Thanks for all the help.

A follow up tech question.  It turns out I cannot upgrade my RAM past 4GB because of the motherboard (it's a HP Pavilion p6320sc).  I am thinking of buying a new graphics card.  I need advice on which to get.  Any help with this stuff would be wonderful.
