More infos plz

I wasnt too impress with galciv 1&2, wish the map was much bigger. Now im not sure how big the map can be in galciv3, since it will now support 64bit, anything is possible.

Having something like 1200 systems would be nice, of course you would need very large map compare to Distant Worlds. Very much like to see Star Trek Mod back again :)

This is what has been stated on map sizes:

Currently a hex sector, has a 12 hex radius, so there are 397 hexes per sector, which is a bit larger than a 16x16 GC2 sector. The smallest galaxy is currently 7 sectors. The largest we will leave as a surprise, for later. These values are all set out in data, that modders will have access to later, which should be fun.

I like your idea of a bigger map.

Oh yes. Big maps and slow research, for that epic campaign. That is why they invented the ability to save games after all. Bring 'em on! He he.

Bigger maps, slower research and very large tech trees. That what i like most :)

Are we planning on playing this game for a decade before we conclude who is the winner? How big would be too big?

Don't misunderstand this comment, I support large maps and I consistently play large maps on other games, but just curious what time frame of game-play is needed to finish a game that has 1200 systems? I am up for playing a game for 90-120 hours straight to conclusion, but much beyond that I think it would become monotonous.

I like big maps and big tech trees in theory. But In practice I never researched a full tech three in Galciv2 and tend to get bored when it becomes overly tedious.  Lately I play huge galaxies but with few stars and planets. I like it .

I also just get bored with a game as soon as it becomes Obvious I have won. When nothing is left of the game but slowly watching my legions of ships and transport munch through what remains of the enemies I just start over. I made a cultural victory once, it was funny, but very tedious at the end as it consisted of spamming constructors for influence base.

The only type of victory I have never achieved in galciv2 is technological. I am very much a Warmonger so I usually go that route. I used space race victory in CivIV Alot though, but mostly as a quick way to end a standstill game.

Having a huge galaxy map bring extra taste to the universe, i dont mean to have a colonize planet in each systems. Just put some interesting taste in different systems, like not all of them will look the samn. Some do or want huge map (make that an option plz) and some dont. Also for Tech Trees, there alot of players want difference flavors, dont have to research them all.

I enjoy playing distant worlds with 1400 systems, its quite a challange and interesting game. I would say prob the best 4x space galaxy game there is IMO, i would like to see GalCivIII compare or best that. I dont mind playing a game that take a month or more to complete, its how players enjoy the game without having to kill everything in tight sectors that doesnt have much room to expand, explore and conquer.

One more thing, is this game going to be modable? I mean if you guys not going to allow some players what they want/like, can improve it? A large MAP is recommend.

Stardock has a history in strong support for modders.

The longest game I heard anyone playing is 6 months. I think that is pretty much time to do this. I actually made cargo hull survey ships that can go the whole map. Were talking about distant worlds is one thing I like is that they are able to reuse the same faction more than once, so I can have more factions. I like the ability to pick to many factions. They have already said that Galactic civilizations is going to be mod able. Three things I would like to see added to the modding capability.

1. The ability to add player factions.

2. The ability to have seperate available players and opponents.

3. The ability to change the size of the map.

One thing I like that was added in the ultimate edition that I like the idea is the addition of an editor. I just wish it did more.

I like the idea of a bigger tech trees as long as they are still individualized. I've stated several other tech enhancements I think are just if not more significant though.

Oh I have actually ran out of techs before. I wouldn't have a problem with tech trees that were to big to be filled. I actually will get more bored with a game that almost always has the same factions, or isn't big enough that I explore the whole thing.

^This.

I expect the tech tree to be too big to be filled. In your average game at least.

I expect you to fill what is the most relevant to your goals for the game. For instance if you want to go for cultural victory, you would fill the culture boosting part of the tech tree but not have all weapons researched etc..  But then that might not be the best exemple as a cultural victory takes so much time you might have time to research everything anyway XD
