Race Interaction Changes

Will there be race animations?

I understand that there will be some major diplomatic changes when speaking to other races through the viewscreens, but will there be any change in the animation? Like in GalCiv 2, will the race leaders be animated and move? It would be a nice touch, and what would be even better is if they moved around when you suggest deals, for example, when you're selecting technologies to trade, they will shake their heads in disgust when you suggest a deal that they really don't like, or they nod in approval when you offer an ally some money or technologies, or the other leader will look off--screen and send for a datapad on a technology or for an aid/advisor when you ask for something or present something to them, as if they were reviewing it to asses its value. Changes like these would be great, rather than a static picture or repetitive animation. Also, will they be voiced, rather than a full text-reading system? It seems like that would be easy, only about what, 8-10 voice actors, and the Yor could be a synthetically created voice, not to mention that the voice actors could be used for two races. These changes would be really great to make the game seem more alive, as if your actually talking to someone rather than a repetitive, puppet-like animation.

If you go to the main website (www.galciv3.com) you will see the pictures of the Drengin and the Altarians. These are what they will look like in the diplomacy screen and Frogboy said that they will be fully animated. If you become a founder you can see a full diplomacy screen in the Founder's vault and I think it will be like you suggested. I don't know though if the animations will be prerendered or not.

About voice acting: I think I'd like that too, but it has too be top-notch. It would be nice if they spoke in their alien language and only have the subtitles, otherwise it might spoil some of the immersion.

I would like to see races stop begging for help.  I can understand every once in awhile but seems most games in Gavciv 2 it seems common.  Not sure if this has been fixed but just hate it where mid game every race is allied with another.  Alliances should be hard to come by.  There should be games where you can either spy mission to break an alliance or they have random events that will cause this.  One last thing is it seems that once you go to war with another race it seems to last to the death.  Seems there is little hope for a peace until either party is destroyed.

Well with the death of the Drath things are going to change. I actually liked the way the Drath stirred up things. I wish they were more tactical. The big reason of this begging comes from the fact that the Thalans, Torians, and Iconians were to strong. Where the Drengin, Drath, and Koeath were really weak, and everyone else weren't strong enough to fight the really strong races. The Ai would declare war when they weren't ready, and then be willing to give in when their opponents had more ships without a fight. I would like to see this change. I would like to see a balance between the military, economics, industry, and research of the Ai's. Don't worry about me I could always play an easier level with the Ai. I also miss the terrorism of the Iconians and Krynn from Dark Avatar. I would not want to see one powerful race like the Thalans declare war on the Drengin, and instead of bringing an ally like the Torians to make it more fair. They just get serious whooped by the Thalans, and are no more. A good alternative would be to make the Ai more fair. Fair does not mean weaker. It just means more strong opponents without weaker ones.

Interesting. I could trust the drengin if they gave me a fully animated smile, and said the troop transports near your planets are really freighters in disguise.

and if you swap out the race behavior option in opponent selection in galaxy setup for the thalan or krynn and change it to Terran. or if the altarian are weak change them to Terran they will be more balenced. The drath play ok with iconian behavior to, and generic will be ok for everyone but your games might be a bit bland.(I hate the korxs alot so I don't know how to fix that train wreck ;) )

You like it where the guys who have taken over the galaxy wouldn't dare fight anybody because they just are to weak to fight anyone. Their allies are just to weak to fight anyone in this civil war. Or do you like the fact that cruel and evil races that eat intelligent beings just love you who are the Altarians who love the Drengin. This is where the game usually go is something like this.

I usually saw the Terrans taking over the galaxy (although the Torians were always pretty tough too).  Love that their diplomatic advantage means they look down on everyone else and try to kill them all :P
