For all the talk about the maps and interface and ship designer (All of which makes me resemble a lonely island song) one thing that I haven't seen discussed yet is multiple monitor support.
Imagine being able to put the colony management screen on a separate window? Or the science screen, or just about every screen other than the main view....
... Or even have a second main view window. So you could put window 2 on an important part of the map while window one jumps from active ship to active ship.

i made a post about this a while back

I can't see this happening. That's double the amount of UI data that would need refreshing. But simply screen-printing your starmap or research tree into a word.doc could help plan things. Would the game have to be run in windowed-mode?

i dont think this would be all that difficult to implement many games in the last decade and even before that have had custimizable UI's one that i thought worked well as mentioned in the link was EVE's UI you could launch the game in windowed mode stretch it to cover both monitors and then set the camera as offset (x,y) so you could center it on your main monitor nearly all of the game interfaces could be moved around wherever you wanted so you could put all those important information up on your second monitor having it easily accessible without occupying valuable space
the only improvement i can think off to add to that would be the ability to have the game recognize a second monitor and use it if i desire as fullscreen
