ETA for Alpha?

I know it was said that alpha will be coming in winter, but can we get a more precise time? Is that winter as in December or winter as in March? Or if you don't want to name a more precise date, mind telling us how close to being ready for alpha you are? Ty :)

Sometime between December 21st 2013, and March 20th 2014 :P

There now there is exact start date and end date for what winter may mean :P

I agree it would be nice to know but I'm sure they are trying to get everything to work the way it's intended before they give us a skeleton of a game that doesn't really work.

They are, undoubtedly, trying hard to not disappoint us. If they said it would be starting on Dec 28, but ran into some difficulty and had to postpone it to Jan 15, a big segment of us would be quite disappointed.

Also, think about how not knowing when enhances the sense of anticipation.

I prefer the "it's ready when it's ready" stance.  I'd rather they release a game a decade from now they're absolutely happy with.  Poor launches absolutely ruin great games (Settlers 7 for example).  First impressions and all that...

Based on Brad's Interview I'd be surprised if Alpha is released Prior to January, and Beta before May, I would also be surprised if the actual game is has it's final release prior to March 2015

With all of the things that must be in place before we could actually access the ship designer, I doubt it will be available to us until real late in the Alpha, or perhaps a ways into Beta. It all depends on the stability of the other parts that support getting to it.

Of course, I could be surprised.

Guaranteed this game has a 2015 release date,same with Star Citizen.

 

Many of the 'big' envelop pushing games are slated for 2015 because ALL of them require 64-Bit.

I also prefer the "it's ready when it's ready" stance. But alpha is well.. alpha. So it would be nice to have a taste of the game.
