Countdown: 6 days to release

Modding

When games come out, one of the things that helps them pass the test of time is modding.  It's a big deal to us and in 20 years of making games, we've never put so much effort into modding as we have in Fallen Enchantress.

Here's a video of me playing with the map editor today which comes with the game.

Elemental: Fallen Enchantress will be released on October 23rd.

The editor seems cool. Is it possible to create for example a level 3 city and create influence borders?

Btw,  I could hear you say "boats"... o_O

oh yeah baby!!!! - you can place any unit any where, but can you assign those units to a particular faction? One can make some neat maps if you only give 'player9' a bunch of ogre & troll camps to work with - this gives a unique type of 'minor faction' ability & unlike in KohanII, you don't have a limited amount of players that can be assigned to the game (I think the total was 9 seperate players in KohanII)

I would love to set up a map with 100 players - most only have certain creature camps to work with --- ofcourse any spawns/camp_spawns generating from those players camps need to stay loyal to the camps that 'spawned' them / and any cities taken need to be destroyed rather than giving them access to normall units

Mm..Maps. And locked starting locations available. Now we're talking. You can create a map and have distances as such to not come across any rival factions for a time, for those that prefer that sorta thing.

Also Frogboy, I have question regarding the world of Elemental itself.. Do you have any plans to release a map of the actual world of Elemental? Considering its size, I figure it'd be a 64bit, but I'm uncertain.. Either way, that's the one map I've always wanted to play on. :pout:

Looks very well put together. Great job Stardock!!

Also love the 'stamp' mechanic. Really adds additional depth to the sandbox mode.

oh, I almost forgot, I just got my uncle to buy his nephew a new computer so he can play E:FE when he gets it for christmas - been like almost 15-20 years since I've gotten him a game worth my 'seal of approval', and to know my uncle that HATES GAMES is willing to buy him a new comp simply because I say he'll love this game is really impressive (my uncle has some money, but not alot)

oh & please look at reply #5 again - this is dear to me (might be the last thing I ask ya far, but then it's almost what I've been wanting since tha beginning)

Wow guys I know you get this a lot but that looks so awesome, using the word properly. I can't imagine FE not becoming the game to mod. Just thanks.

Nice!

Is there any plan for a champion editor?

Frank
End of francois02000's quote

Can't you just make a sovereign and use that as a champion?

Amazed and amazing.  Boats will be a nice campaign feature.  Looking forward to knowing more about minor factions.

Awesome.  Can't wait to get my grubby mitts on that editor.  :troll:

No, champions appears on the map and you can hire them, sovereigns are ... sovereigns.

With a champion editor we could create champions at a certain level that would randomly appear on the map. I would make fun and create champions trying to reproduce my friends or some mythical characters.

There is certainly a way to do it by playing with the files (XML), but a tool would help.

I remember my first time map making in Age of Empires... Good times.  :inlove:

Guys, when he says "boats" I'm pretty sure he means the water-based city improvements like Piers, Docks, Harbor and Watermills.  These improvements can be built in a city next to a beach tile, but not one placed next to a cliff tile.  Although I could be mistaken.

I love what I see. I look forward to the mod discussions after release. I could spend a year just making cool stamps.

Just might have to get this now. :-) Looks pretty good from what I've been following.

Cool :)

When you pick a quest, other than choosing a specific one and 'random', it'd be cool to have an option like 'random-easy', 'random-hard' etc...  that is, random but that specifies the difficulty/level.
