Lagging Online and Offline, After Certain Point

For some reason, after the game passes the 1 hr 30 minute mark, I tend to lag both in online and offline games. This is becoming an increasing frustrating problem as my Laptop is more then capable of handling this game.

When lagging starts, I tend to:

-Lower all graphics to minimal, no AA, Low on everything etc.

-Make sure no programs is running in the background incl task manager to end task on unwanted background processors.

-High Performance Setting, So laptop is performing at maximum.

Laptop Specs:

AMD Turion X2 Dual Core Modile RM-74 2.20ghz

4.00gb Ram

64 bit operating system Windows 7

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500/5100 Series (latest updated drivers)

- 400mhz

- 512mb dedicated memory

- 1790mb shared system memory

- Toal Avalaiable GPU memory 2302mb

When I check performance in Task Manager, Only 50% of the total processing power is being used, while 1.6gb of total ram is used.

I know Laptops are not gaming machines, but with specs like this, I should be able to have an enjoyable game.

Well, from experience, once you load the game with high level textures, while it's running if you switch to low settings, it doesn't always work out that the textures end up being low res.  A habit of mine is to save, switch to low settings, exit the game, restart, reload, then continue on.  Another thing is when you're seeing 50% total processing, does that mean 50% of one core or 50% of both cores together?  Sins runs on a single core during game play and you're more then likely maxed out on the core it's running on while the second core isn't doing anything at all showing you that you're only using half of your CPU's total power.  That would be the main bottleneck in the game at this point.

Depending on what version of the game you're using, tricks to improve performance are reduce the number of strikecraft, reduce the number of mines, reduce the numbers of trade and refinery ships, and unpin things from your empire tree, and the most fun trick is to kill off a faction, especially the pirates.

End of Stant123's quote

its 50% of both cores. (dual core). I may need to upgrade processor.

thank you. =)
