digital download

i just purchased the entrenchment mod on impulse.  everything seems fine and it automatically upgraded my game... my question is, how can i download it to my hard drive?  i would like to have an actual copy without having to rely on impulse.

Well it is on your harddrive. Once it is installed you can uninstall impulse and Entrenchment will still work fine (though you'll need it if another update comes out). I think there is a way to get digital downloads on a disk, but I haven't bother tried and it is probably a waste of time.

The thing is, Entrenchment uses Impulse as installer. As such, the only kind copy that does not rely on the Impulse program for installation is one you make yourself. If you want just a backup, so that you do not have to re-download the game in the future, you can either use the archive feature in Impulse, or download entrenchment from http://anywhere.impulsedriven.com/. That will give you an executable and datafile that can be used to install entrenchment without an internet connection being required. Said executable does require Impulse being installed to function, however. Furthermore, since Entrenchment requires online activation, you will still need either a direct internet connection or access to an internet capable device in order to install the game on a new computer.

thanks very much for the help.  that's exactly what i was looking for.  it's sad that they put so much limitations and restrictions on a product i purchased.  pirates can freely use this program any way they choose but stardock/impulse severely restricts a person who paid for the game.  this is the first time i bought a game digitally and would be the last.  i apologize for the rant.  it's just frustrating.

Huh? Impulse is one of the most relaxed, user friendly game installer/updater Ive ever used.

Though since you not had much personal experience with digital platforms I guess I can see your point of view. I think.

As carbon said, Impulse ain't so bad.

At least it doesn't require you to actually have impulse ON if you want to play the game, unlike Steam.

Lol harcan, you sound like people when Half Life 2 came out requiring steam to play. Even then steam is great, greater number of games, and community

a little late on my response, but... yeah i guess im just not used to digital downloads.  in fact this is my first one.  i was expecting to get the FULL data, ready to install, with or without internet connection, as if i bought the cd.  anyways, for $10 it's really not that important.  i only got it for the SoA2 mod and i've enjoyed it.  i just hope that my digital copy and internet connection will still be available next time i get the urge to play it again.

dude.. you could uninstall impulse and still be able to play entrenchment on your computer.

even better, you could install impulse on a second computer, download both sins and entrench, and then play against yourself. (course, no more than 2 players in a lan game from the same code)
