Right Click Causes ObjectDock Plus to Crash

This is a repost :

I'm using ObjectDock Plus on my vista machine.  I've got a dock on the top of the screen with the Start button, recycle bin, weather module and calendar.  On the bottom I have a Docked tabs with 11 tabs each containing several items (For example, The Office Appl tab has Work, Excel, Outlook, etc.)  The system has been working fine up until a couple of days ago the I discovered that right clicking and selecting an action (change icon for example) caused a windows error message indicating that ObjectDock had quit working would be shut down.  A normal left click works as expected and it seems that right click menus with 3 or fewer items works OK also (though this last bit hasn't been extensively tested).  I've used implus the confirm that the instal is still correct.

I'm not using any third party modules and the right click menu worked as expected while I did the initial set up, allowing me to change icons the the ones I selected.  I have made no major changes or program installations, theogh MS and Notron have consistant updates that happen automatically.

Any suggestions

Anything new installed on the system that may have changed this?  As always, security software can sometimes interfere, and a good starting point would be to check for that by adding exceptions or temporarily disabling.

Thanks Shirley.  Nothing new has been installed though MS and/or Norton may have automatically installed updates which should not have caused any problems (unless of course, ObjectDock Plus s using some exploit, that MS has chosen to close - in which case I wouldn't be the only one having this problem).  I have also experimented with shutting down all security and found no change.

Sorry I can't pinpoint the exact point at which the right click started causing a shutdown.  I had everything set up the way I wanted, then found some MS Office icons I wanted to use instead of those already being used and that’s when I discovered that right clicking and selecting change icon caused ObjectDock Plus to quit working and the notification from Windows that it would be shutdown.  I checked further and found that any right click selection other than "Open" would cause the stop working/shutdown situation.  (Interestingly, I can right click in a blank space and add an new shortcut (Word for example) for an additional iteration of an existing item and it will be added to the tab.  Right clicking on the new entry will cause the noted failure then when ObjectDock Plus in restarted, the icon for the new entry will have replaced the icon for the old entry, the new entry can then be delete and the change will have been made).

If no solution is found, I may remove the program and reinstall to see if that fixes the problem.  Hopefully I will be able to save my current tab settings and reuse them on the reinstalled application – I really don’t want to rebuild something that has taken me several weeks to get working in a way I like.

All of your ObjectDock settings are stored in:

C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\Stardock\ObjectDockPlus

After closing ObjectDock, just temporarily rename the ObjetDockPlus folder and you can kill two birds with one stone: the settings are saved, and ObjectDock will revert to default settings. Open up ObjectDock and a new ObjectDockPlus settings folder will be created. Retrace your steps that caused the crash before, and see if it happens with the default settings. If it doesn't crash, it's likely that your settings files were corrupt.

Thanks, that seemed to fix the right click problem.  After the ObjectDockPlus folder was recreated, I renamed the 'CurrentTheme.ini' and copied the CurrentTheme.ini from the renamed ObjectDockPlus folder to the recreated one and got all my modifications back - the only thing I had to re-do was check the "Hide Winsows Taks Bar" in the setup menu.
