IconPackager 5 beta update 10/15/2009

Hi

Just tried to install the new IconPackager beta update of 10/15/2009, and it said that my registration was invalid, im a object desktop subscriber.  I uninstalled my existing iconpackager 5 beta install , and  rebuit the impulse data files, and now it only shows iconpackager 4, and i cant install it under windows 7.  The install for iconpackager 5 is now gone from impulse?

Thanks for any help on this.

Did you logout and then login Impulse after reseting the data files?

yes, several times now, reset data and restart impulse , then aply update and restart impulse, still iconpackager 5 beta doesnt show ?

Hi

Yes show pre release, show hidden items and show freeware and demo's all are checked/enabled in impulse.

Interesting.  I tried that update for IconPackager and got the same error.  However I am updating WB and Deskcapes without a problem.  While downloading them I tried to set Iconpackager to update and it said to please wait while Impulse is logging in and complete any installs in progress.  However I was able to choose WB to update and then Deskcapes separately to update and no error.

So I feel there is some error in the IconPackager update.

That is strange.  I take it that Impulse has worked okay up to you trying to get this update for IP 5?

Sounds like you have done the right stuff. 

The only other thing to do is uninstall Impulse, run a clean up program like CCleaner and reboot and then reinstall Impulse. 

EDIT:  I had the IP 5 update and one for WB 7, tried to do the IP 5 update and it gave the registration error.  I just click on 'Download all updates' in the upper right hand corner and it download both updates.

This is the way to go lately .........for about 2 weeks I have had various problems updating but Download all Updates has always worked.

Okay, yes, impulse has worked great up till the iconpackager 5 beta update of today.  i have also unisntalled, impulse, system cleanup done, reboot, reinstall impulse and still NO icon packager 5 beta for object desktop users showing up? I have done all i can, will now send a email to support.

same problem here, tried updating IP 5 and get the serial number not valid error. But clicking install all updates worked. sometime, somethings just make you go hmmmmmmmmmmm :)

Yes, ObjectDesktop Subscription is valid till Jult 2010.  Great to here that its being noted and worked on Zubaz.  Why have there been so many coding errors in regards to the serial number not valid, or subscription not valid, ive seen this in several updates lately, in other posts.

Yes, iconpackager 5 is back on the list and installed smoothly, thanks to Zubaz and team at StarDock.  Just had to input my Object Desktop Serial once it was installed, and all is good.

Maybe somebody can address why this 20 meg file has a 103 meg update?? and a 89 meg download..

With all these beta updates, my internet can't keep up - this is a daily event..

I have had mycolors and objectdesktop for a little while now And I can tell you this "This software has more bugs then a roach motel"

Just when you think something is not working, along comes a software update and screws something else up.. Oh it may fix one problem but it screws with something else..

One suggestion before you relaese a beta update test it on xp, vista, win7 and with other stardock software programs...!!!

Or install the update across all party lines.. If another program uses theme manager (mycolors) and impulse has an update to "thememanager" update both..

Here is what I went thru today for 10 hours and i will use just one software testing example.

we all know mycolors diamond theme under xp creates a fuzzy mess when just using mycolors

I loaded thememanager and the fuzzing mess turned into a gray start menu and task

I loaded windowblinds 7 and the mess and gray start menu turned into the diamond theme for win7

still thru none of these programs will the xp version of the diamond theme load or display correctly 

I could create a full page bug report using this software and all i wanted was to change/add a differant theme.. I do not create skins, sounds, icons, gagets and gizmos - but in order to get the theme to apply right you need all these other programs, just so you can apply this thru that and be able to change things back - yes the theme do not un apply right either,,

With the betas we typically install the whole package to make sure that everything installs correctly.  it's part of teh testing process.  :)

Actually most of object desktop is in the beta stage and mycolors does not work properly..

MyColors uses a form of windowblinds skins, theme manager, iconpackager and desktopX

If we where allowed to upload screen shots - well

a picture is worth a thousand words..

I read the forums and other users bug reports, the response is always the same as above... then beta's are relaesed and we assume this may address certain issues.. Never seen a fix report on a beta here..

So the poster is right, we do not need to download the beta's - but we did not purchase software to be a beta tester either...

Guess I need to update my sig now:

Stardock Software has more bugs then a roach motel, Purchase Stardock software to become a beta tester, Big Brother "Impulse" is watching over you..

Just updated IP and WB a couple of hours ago without an issue and without using the 'Install All Updates' button

i think the problem is running it after installation..i was able to install it fine but ones i tried to run the program it asked me to activate
