Whats your favorit sci fi series?
My current Favorit is the reimaged BSG. Prior to that it was Star Trek TNG.
My favorite is Eureka hands down. Next is Stargate SG-1, of which I bought the entire series in one box.
Babylon 5 - for its main story plot
Star Trek DS9 - for many quality and serious filler episodes and epic space battles
Stargate - both of them - for probably the most likeable characters
The most disappointing for me were Gene Roddenbery´s other sci-fi series - Andromeda and Earth Final Conflict - IMO both started brilliantly, but eventually turned to utter rubbish. Especially Andromeda.

Star trek shouldn't even be mentioned except to be mentioned as perhaps the most VANILLA sci fi experience one could possible have..
Star trek without ships...joyous...
Series shouldn't have been made much like the highlander tv series shouldn't have been made..
Eureka, Star Trek: TNG, Star Trek: DS9, the new BSG, Stargate: SG1.
If I had to pick an absolute favorite, I'd have to pick BSG.
In approximate order (although they're honestly all very close in my book):
1.) The new Battlestar Galactica
2.) Star Trek: The Next Generation
3.) Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
4.) Firefly
5.) Babylon 5
Never heard of Eureka... nor firefly... hmm got to watch it... I am surprise, most of these series listed here are like space sci fi, no x-files

Both Stargates most definitly, then Star Trek (all of them minus DS9) and Firefly, then Eureka ad Sanctuary, though the last 4 are all pretty equal... is hard to differentiate because i like them for different things...
For instance, Kyle XY is technically Sci-Fi, but it acts like a Pseudo Soap Opera... but way less corny... and its just a beautiful show generally. seriously, in a world where all media is about how crappy life is, no matter what your status (compare GossipGirl and Neighbors, for instance, you get all the same crap, and the fact they are from opposite sides of the social ladder means nothing), Kyle XY is a generally feel good show, you just cant help but smile when things go right, and they often do. i cant explain it, but its definitly one of my favorites now...
hence the science FICTION part of it?
Even the news... who really cares about what new celeb did what shitty thing? Fiction, i say...
I would say ... Stargate-SG1 and second is the orginal Star Trek series ....
