WindowBlinds 7 New Code Guide

WindowBlinds 7 New Code Guide

Master skinner DanilloOc has taken the time to write a great guide on the new codes in WindowBlinds 7.  This will no doubt be a tremendous help to skinners in creating and updating their skins for Windows 7 and WindowBlinds 7.

  • This is a quick guide to help you add new Windows 7 features to you skin (WindowBlinds 7).
  • You'll need the latest WindowBlinds 7 (beta) to have this code working.
  • The guide is inside a zip and come in two formats, .docx (Microsoft Word) and .htm (Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc) and have screenshots all over.

two things;

1. I'm posting to the thread so that it is in my "my replies" list for future reference. a lot of great information, thank you to all who have posted the info.

2. sniveling - this information will probably never make it into the program documentation or to any wiki page. the lack of appropriate help files is appalling.

The flashing state does not use the masking+glow but if the button is a group, the sub-buttons that paint on right side and behind will use the mask+glow

Actually I meant on Vista,that odd mouseover flash...it dosnt seem to respect any image edges...just a rectangle...even flashes over translucent parts.

Same with progress bars...the flash image dosnt respect content margins and just runs over the ends or edges.

But now that you mention the flashing state in 7...as a group its messed up somehow...like the underneath part is trying to use 2 image states...half flashing and half normal mouseover. :\ And it dosnt flash...just sits there. >_>

Which brings up a problem...this double and triple drawing grouped buttons looks kinda crappy sometimes...would be nice if we had a grouped button for that state...hint hint Neil. ;)

I'm also not seeing the pressed state being used at all.

@ gmc2 and messiah1: I plan in writing a full skinning dock based in SkinStudio experience (based in screenshots and comments, so almost zero code to added by hand), but then we need WB7 and new SKS released as final versions.

@ I.R. Brainiac:About "not seeing pressed state being used at all", that's cause Windows 7 taskbar buttons do not use the pressed state (graphic) by default, if you unload WB and try it, you can confirm, only Pinned programs have pressed state.
You still need the "pressed"frame in your taskbar button graphic, ibut it's just became "unused" on Windows 7 just like the "disabled" state for Vista or XP.

About the taskbar buttons painting issues, I'm very confused about what is happening there, could you please e-mail me the skin to look at or at least the a sampler skin with the taskbar section? (if so, e-mail to danilloOc at Gmail dot com)
