Capcom Acquires Worldwide MotoGP License

Trying to avoid all the April Fool's day pranks? Well, you have come to the right place as Capcom has announced that they have secured the worldwide rights to publish video games and create peripherals based on the MotoGP motorcycling championship. The agreement covers all platforms for the first time and will cover the next five years.  The move has allowed Capcom to begin production on titles for the 2008 season for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PlayStation 2 and mobile platforms.

Mark Beaumont, executive vice president, officer and head of Capcom consumer software publishing in the Americas and Europe had the following to say:

“We are very excited to have signed this long term agreement with Dorna Sports, which for the first time grants one publisher worldwide multi-platform rights to the adrenaline fuelled world of MotoGP. We feel this move to a single publisher will greatly benefit our ability to develop titles that deliver more authenticity and excitement to the consumer.”
